Do you identify as single or divorced when filling out forms and applications and why?
I identify as a single person. I don't have children. I always check that box and so far it's not an issue. However, my insurance company lists me as divorced since I was once on my husband's policy. This irritates me to no end. I also changed my name back to my maiden name when we divorced.

What happens to all of the paper forms you fill out for immigration and customs?
Years ago I worked at document management company. There is cool software that can automate aspects of hand-written forms. We had an airport as a customer - they scanned plenty and (as I said before) this was several years ago...On your airport customs forms, the "boxes" that you 'need' to write on - are basically invisible to the scanner - but are used because then us humans will tend to write neater and clearer which make sit easier to recognize with a computer. Any characters with less than X% accuracy based on a recognition engine are flagged and shown as an image zoomed into the particular character so a human operator can then say "that is an "A". This way, you can rapidly go through most forms and output it to say - an SQL database, complete with link to original image of the form you filled in.If you see "black boxes" at three corners of the document - it is likely set up for scanning (they help to identify and orient the page digitally). If there is a unique barcode on the document somewhere I would theorize there is an even higher likelihood of it being scanned - the document is of enough value to be printed individually which costs more, which means it is likely going to be used on the capture side. (I've noticed in the past in Bahamas and some other Caribbean islands they use these sorts of capture mechanisms, but they have far fewer people entering than the US does everyday)The real answer is: it depends. Depending on each country and its policies and procedures. Generally I would be surprised if they scanned and held onto the paper. In the US, they proably file those for a set period of time then destroy them, perhaps mining them for some data about travellers. In the end, I suspect the "paper-to-data capture" likelihood of customs forms ranges somewhere on a spectrum like this:Third world Customs Guy has paper to show he did his job, paper gets thrown out at end of shift. ------> We keep all the papers! everything is scanned as you pass by customs and unique barcodes identify which flight/gate/area the form was handed out at, so we co-ordinate with cameras in the airport and have captured your image. We also know exactly how much vodka you brought into the country. :)

What can I do when a divorced parent refuses to fill out a college financial aid form?
Anything that does not involve going to university and paying for it with loans/grants.Join the service.Get a full time job and take a class at a time and pay with cash.Find an employer that will pay for your schooling.Get married so you can be considered an independent student 9but not from your husband).Jus t get a job. By the time the government lets you file as an independent student(age 24) you may have found an even better pattern that doesn’t involve college at all.

What paperwork do I fill out for a divorce that is self-represented, and that my spouse hasn’t responded to?
I don’t know why you think you want a divorce, but every married couple will be forced to deal with difficulties and many will face the decision to stay married or to divorce. ... You may be surprised to learn that most unhappy marriages become happy again if couples can stick it out. While some divorces are necessary, many marriages can be repaired. I admit I didn’t stay and stick it out after 26 yrs. of marriage. I should have for my 2 kids.If you are the petitioner and you are beginning the divorce process:You will need to download and complete the Petition—Marriage (Family Law Form FL-100), the Summons (Family Law Form FL-110), and Proof of Service of Summons (Family Law Form FL-115).If you have children under the age of 18 with your spouse, you should also complete the Declaration Under Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (Family Law Form FL-105/GC-120), the Child Custody and Visitation Application Attachment (optional Family Law Form FL-311), and the Property Declaration (optional Family Law Form FL-160).Do not sign any declarations or sworn statements unless and until you're in the presence of a notary. If you're the respondent and you've been served with the petitioner's initial divorce papers:Complete the Response—Marriage (Family Law Form FL-120) and either Proof of Personal Service (Family Law Form FL-330) or Proof of Service by Mail (Family Law Form FL-335), depending on how you plan to serve the response. If you have children under the age of 18 with the petitioner, also complete the Declaration Under Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (Family Form FL-105/GC-120) and the Child Custody and Visitation Application Attachment (optional Family Form FL-311).Don't sign any declarations or sworn statements unless you're with a notary.

There was no summons in the divorce papers my husband “served” me. How can I submit my answer to his petition?
First step: How were you ‘served’ with the papers? Where I live, if your husband gave them to you, this would not be a legal form of service. Here, either a third party would have to give you the papers, or if posted they would have to include an acknowledgment that you have received them, for return to him or possibly the court. If you go over the papers again, and you can find no reference to the location of the court and the time of the first court appearance something will have gone wrong. It would of course be possible for him to have made a mistake and simply have forgotten to include the notification of the place, date and time. This would be more likely if he is doing the paperwork himself - you would expect a law firm not to make such errors, but one never knows. If there is only one, or a small number, of courts handling divorces in your locality, I’d suggest you ring them and check if they have any record of a divorce application being filed in his name and yours, or even better, go in personally with the papers. You could contact your husband and check whether he has filed the application in a court, which court, and the date and time. This assumes that you can do this safely and without risk of an unpleasant scene. If you get an answer that he has filed and the information about where, then check with the court to confirm the details. You could also check the process with them.If none of this gives any information that makes sense to you, it would be prudent to consult a lawyer.

What form do I fill out to divorce myself from the government completely? I have already canceled my voter registration. What is the next step?
What form do I fill out to divorce myself from the government completely? I have already canceled my voter registration. What is the next step?“The government”?First off, the answer may vary depending on which government you are wanting to separate from. If you’re talking about the U.S. government, well, you’re going to find it’s very difficult. The closest you will be able to come to this will be to renounce your citizenship abroad. You can see the steps for doing that at Renunciation of U.S. Nationality Abroad .If you follow those steps, you will no longer be a U.S. citizen. But you should note, as that article says, doing so will not necessarily relieve you of certain obligations you had because you were a citizen.Add to it that if you do this, you will of necessity be subject to the laws of some other country, just by your very presence in that country.
