I understand you buddy. I understand you completely. I am in the exact same position as you. So let me tell you what i feel about the question and the answers written here.And if you like it give me an upvote ;)After reading this question i thought i am a patient of split personality and i only wrote this question in another of my avatar. So my brother from another mother i feel totally connected to you after reading this question. And about all the answers written here, i think everyone is correct here in their own way but they probably have a different kind of personality and that is why they have written answers without understanding your emotions and therefore, none of the answers made sense to me personally (Well one of them partially did and that's why i upvoted it)I feel we are alike and therefore i will talk about myself here and you might feel connected too. From childhood, i have always lived in my fantasy land that i will/can do this i will/can do that but never actually did anything. When i hear about others all i think is i could have done that thing. And i again go into my fantasy world that i should have done something in my past which would have made a difference. I go into my serious mode. Do something good for 2 days and then come back to the same routine of doing anything. I know i have the potential but still i don't do anything. I get motivated every time i read a book, watch a movie or hear people's story. But result is still nothing. I used to think that there will come a turning point in my life and everything will change suddenly, i will have a successful startup of my own, will go for world tours, will become fit (btw i am fat). But no, nothing of that sort happened in the past 26 years and won't happen in the next 26. I realized that people who are at successful position did not signNowed there overnight, they worked really hard for it. Because, nothing comes to anyone easily. So, i started working on things. It is as simple as that. Just start working on whatever you want to do; your job, startup, getting fit, anything. NO MATTER HOW SLOWLY OR HOW LATE IT IS JUST START DOING THINGS. As there is no other way to it. Absolutely no other way. You know you have it in you. But do you think you will signNow at your success point without doing anything. No you won't. So just start doing. And don't do it for anybody else, JUST DO IT FOR THAT MAN IN THE MIRROR BECAUSE THAT MAN DESERVES IT. ALL THE BEST.Sorry for the long answer.

I live in Germany. I got an invite to the Quora partner program the day I landed in USA for a business trip. So from what I understand, irrespective of the number of views on your answers, there is some additional eligibility criteria for you to even get an email invite.If you read the terms of service, point 1 states:Eligibility. First you have to differentiate between instrumental goals and terminal (or life) goals (see Terminal Values and Instrumental Values). Instrumental goals are things you need to do to achieve your terminal/life goals, but aren't things that you value in themselves.Example: If you want to get a PhD in biology, you shouldn't forget that getting the PhD is an instrumental goal. The terminal goal could be to acquire more knowledge in itself, or/and it could also be to use this knowledge to cure aging and therefore live for as long as possible. But if getting a PhD is not the best way to do that, then you won't get a PhD because you don't value PhDs in themselves, but only for what they bring you.Second, remember that the most important instrumental goals is to try to find your life goals. But you probably already know that since you asked the question. ;-)Third, you should understand that it's a difficult problem. Some people try to come up with simple solution such as "maximize happiness", but it's Not for the Sake of Happiness (Alone). There are plenty of other things to value. But even though no one is currently able to perfectly define their life goals, we should still give a lot of energy in trying to define them as well as possible.Fourth, keep in mind that life goals are more a compass than coordinates. I've once read "If your dreams don't scare you they aren't big enough." It can take some courage to face our goals knowing they might not be signNowable. Also, studying some rationality principles (Welcome to Less Wrong) could help you with this question (it did for me).In conclusion, we could say that our "meta-goal" is to try to fulfill our life goals as much as possible. Because, for example, wanting to be immortal or wanting to live for as long as possible will both get you pretty much to the same place.PS.: Personally, I value things most humans do, such as knowledge, life, health, happiness, etc. So my life goals are to learn new things, increase my life expectancy, stay healthy, stay happy, etc. However, I don't think there should be exceptions or limits to those values. For example, I don't think that someone after 100 years old shouldn't be saved. I think everyone should be save all the time. But because of cognitive bias such as the Just-world hypothesis, several people rationalize death as being part of there life goals, which is absurd IMO. People who have a similar view to me are referred as "transhumanists". I want to be happy, but how? I want to live for as long as possible, but how? Etcetera. Get an introduction to the target company through a referral if possible.  A lot of the companies that retain us even talk explicitly about "no agency referrals" on their website.  There are times that going in through HR or their staffing org can be to your benefit but more often that not it helps to have a referral with a "VP" in their title to get you that introduction.  You might still be a long way from getting a fee agreement signed (retained or contingent) but you'll be a lot close than being one of the hundreds of agency recruiters leaving voicemails for the VP HR or Staffing Manager.
