Hello, my name is Dave McEwen and I'm the Chief Information Security Officer and Acting   Principal Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Department of Defense. October is National   Cyber Security Awareness Month and, on behalf of the Secretary and the Chief Information Officer,   I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you of cyber security practices you can take to support   the Department and the nation. Every one of us contributes to the Department's operations and   missions by practicing good cyber security in the office, at home, and on your mobile devices.   I want to encourage you to continue to do your part by taking some simple yet vigilant actions   by doing things like utilizing multi-factor  authentication and strong unique passwords,   recognizing and not clicking on phishing  emails, keeping your software up to date,   only using approved hardware and software on official computers and networks,   and reporting suspicious cyber activ
