[Music] thank you [Music] so we're going to be talking today about Veterans Preference specifically what it is how it works how you claim it so I'm going to go over some things in this video that I think um might help a lot of people so uh Veterans Preference is uh is pretty complicated um so let me just switch over to my other screen here let's talk about this a little bit so it applies in a couple scenarios first it applies if you want to if you're a veteran and you want to apply to a job that's not open to the public you can do that under Veterans Preference in that scenario you won't get points towards your final rating but you can apply to the job whereas other people in the public cannot do that it's only open to certain people I'll talk about that a little bit more Veterans Preference also applies for certain veterans under the rule of three and we're going to talk about the rule three I'm going to explain what that is it has to do with your your rating uh toward toward the job
