welcome to City College of San Francisco the story of ccsf begins nearly a century ago when Archibald Cloud Chief Deputy superintendent of the San Francisco Unified School District had a vision to establish a junior college for the city's high school graduates with an emphasis on both vocational training and traditional academic programs ccsf officially opened on August 26 1935. and Mr Cloud was appointed as its first president serving until 1949. with the 2.9 Million Dollar funding approved by the city in 1938 the college was able to complete the first two buildings of its ocean campus science Hall and Cloud Hall enrollment Grew From 1400 in 1935 to 2600 in 1940. during the early years the college added instructional programs such as business architecture home economics dental hygiene and Dentistry the college opened the city's first police training program in 1939 and the first firefighter program in 1940. ccsf was starting to be recognized internationally for athletic excellence div
