hello my name is Orion Colfer I'm an Emergency Physician excited to be with you today to share a bit of an unusual perspective on risk management so we're calling this manager self-manager risk but I prefer the subtitle you have the power to reduce your risk of being sued by being your best self and I like that because it's positive it's hopeful optimistic and I think empowering and let's be honest we need that particularly in the work that we do and with our risk management because so many of the variables that contribute to the risk that we manage and deal with every day every shift feels like it they're completely out of our control and that we're powerless we're just kind of tiptoeing around in the emergency department trying to avoid stepping on that landmine and while much of what contributes to our risk is very much out of our control or only marginally maybe on our best days in our control there actually are opportunities to manage our risk and reduce our Risk by managing to be
