How do I apply for a Schengen visa from India, and what are the financial requirements? I would like to know how much funds I need to show on my bank account for a 14-day trip to Europe.First thing first “Finalizing the Visa Consulate”:If you are planning to tour more than two countries in the Schengen area then apply for visa to the embassy/consulate of the country you will be residing in for most of the travelling days, often referred as the main destination. If two countries have the same number of days then choose the one where you are planning to land or exit.In case you do not have a fixed itinerary (not recommended, though), and you plan to visit several countries in the Schengen area randomly, then apply to the embassy/consulate of the country which you are entering first.Since now you know which embassy you need to apply, next is how to apply and what are the documents required.Long trail of documentation:The most painful part is this, where you need to prepare the documentation. I will keep the checklist simple and provide rationale on why they ask for the particular document which will help you understand the significance of it and you can produce a substitute, if possible and required1) Valid passport (issued within the last 10 years and with at least 3 months validity after the scheduled return; passports with observations regarding the front data page are no accepted) with at least two empty pages Nothing much to say, of course you need a valid passport. Since the maximum stay with a Schengen visa can be of 90 days, so 3 months validity is required on the passport. Two blank pages, because one will have Visa sticker and the other page will have Indian immigration stamps and the stamps from the Schengen country where you are landing and exiting.2) 2 passport pictures according to biometric specifications, not older than 6 months Go to the studio and get a photo of the dimension 35 mm in length and 45 mm in height. Your face (the start of the hairline in the forehead till end of your chin) should be between 32 mm to 36 mm. Get the photo in a light background, white is preferred. Detailed information can be obtained here Cheap Tip: Do not go to any fancy studio and spend a bomb on just the photo. The consulate needs a clean and clear photo with the above mentioned specifications (which are very general) and not for featuring you as a playboy model, so save the buck.3) Leave letter of your company (if employed)This letter serves as a proof of return to your own country, so make sure the letter clearly states your designation, since when you are working with the company, leave dates (mandatorily covering your entire stay), date on which you will resume your duties.No-objection certificate of school or university (if student) This is pretty much same as the above.4) Proof of financial status If employed:Payslips of the past three months / employment contract Provide either of them, not both. Provide three latest Payslips, as it clearly states how much you are earning and if you are capable of surviving a European trip. This document helps the Visa officer gauge your financial status and also validates that the money earned is legal. If self-employed:Certificate of Proprietorship or other proof of ownership (proof of land title, proof of income from agriculture (sales form) etc.) 5) Income Tax Return (ITR) form or Form 16(Certificate of Income Tax deducted at the source of salary)It ensures that all the fund in your bank account is earned legally. Though my experience is that, they hardly care how you have earned the money. If they see there is enough fund available in your account then they are fine.6) Personal bank statement of the past three months with sufficient fundsHere they look into couple of things; first, money in your account is sufficient to cover your entire stay in Schengen area during your travel period. Second, the fund has not been deposited all of a sudden to inflate the available balance. I have written below in detail on how much you should show in your bank account, so keep reading. The bank account statement can be online, but make sure it is a bank statement with details of transaction and not just an account summary. You can show travelers cards (with statement stating available balance), credit card statement, and fixed deposits in your name or joint accounts. If anyone is sponsoring you (like your father or mother), a sponsoring letter addressed to the consulate from him/her and his/her bank statement for last 3 months.7) Proof of accommodation for your entire stay in the Schengen area. This is vital, I have read and heard personal experiences where the Visa has been cancelled due to discrepancy in accommodation arrangements. Make sure you have confirmed hotel bookings with details of the property owner/manager and property details (address). If you are staying at friends/relatives place then copy of their passport (with valid residence permit, in case of non-EU citizen) and an invitation mail will be sufficient as long as you are sponsoring your own stay.8) Flight and transport reservation Again, very vital. Many applications got rejected because of fake bookings. DO NOT make a fake reservation. Search for flights which has minimal cancellation charges and book your flights well ahead of travel date (45-60 days prior) to get a good deal. If you are travelling within Schengen countries then it is advised to show them train/bus bookings for inter-nation travel. One need not show travel details within the country, say if you are travelling within Italy (Rome to Florence) then need not show prior bookings. But if you are travelling from Italy to Switzerland then it is advised to show a confirmed booking.9) Travel Insurance Vital to get visa and also for your own sake. If something unwanted happens and you need to avail medical services then you will be ripped off everything as healthcare is expensive in whole of Europe. The travel insurance must cover Euro 30, 000.00 in case of hospitalization and must cover emergency medical evacuation and repatriation of remains. The list of approved travel insurance companies can be fetched here.10) Proof of civil status Marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable or Aadhaar Card.11) 1 copy of your passport’s data page Print the first two pages and last two pages of your passport in an A4 size paper.12) Residency proof, if address in the passport falls outside the jurisdiction region of the consulate: Which consulate or which region you can apply? You can apply at the region (North, South, East or West) where you are residing for last 6 months. This is something none of the blogs available in the internet have mentioned clearly. In case you are a domicile of different region and applying at a different region (domicile of Uttar Pradesh, North and working in Bangalore, South for last 3 years), or simply if the address mentioned in your passport does not fall under the jurisdiction region of then consulate then you need to provide either a copy of your rent agreement, or a letter from your company HR clearly mentioning your address or some utility bill (electricity, water or telephone bill).13) Duly filled application form Kept at last, because it is important. You can either fill an online application (recommended) or also can fill an offline application. German consulate online application can be filled here , similarly other Countries’ application form can be found in the respective VFS website. Self-Declaration Form can be found here, required only for German consulate. It is recommended to fill the online application form, it not only saves time at the application center but also legibility is better than the handwritten one.14) Cover Letter A letter addressed to the consulate you are applying. It must contain the followingPurpose of visit (tourism, visiting friends or family)Detailed itinerary If you have a sponsorExplain your personal relationship with your sponsor and the reason why they will be sponsoring your tripIf you cannot submit any of the required documents, write about the reasons why you cannot submit and explain alternative documents that you may have submittedYou can also mention the reasons why you will not overstay the visa period (employment, personal assets, etc.), explain your rootedness to the countryCool Tip: You can attach the itinerary separately which will enhance the readability of your letter.Write to me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you require a specimen cover letter or template of itinerary, I will be more than happy to help you with one.Visit my blog-How to obtain a Schengen Visa-Rules and tips

How hard is it to get a gun in USA?About 8 months ago I walked into a gun store and walked out 30 minutes later with an AR-15 style weapon. My rifle cost me about 850$ USD and came with one extra magazine. It’s chambered in 5.56 and fires semi auto. Not that “Full Semi Auto” crap you hear on the news. I’ll get back to that in a second. When I walked in, I had previously purchased two firearms from the dealer and was perfectly satisfied with what I got. Both of them are more traditional rifle weapons that you would think of being used for hunting or similar. The gentleman who was running the counter knows who I am and that I come in with an idea of what I want and that I want it knew. He finished with the customer he was working with while I looked at the store’s cannon. Yes, an actual working cannon. When the other customer had finished he called out to me and this exchange happened. This took about 10 minutes.“Mr. Bowman. Good to see you again.”“Hello Mr. Ron. It’s great to be back here. Would you happen to have an AR-15 in stock?”“Yes sir.” He signNowes behind him and pulls it down off of the wall “This one look good?” I spend about 5 minutes exploring the weapon. Basic things. Inspecting the sights, checking out the action and magazine port. Basic things. “Looks pretty good to me. Do you have any other recommendations?”“This is just my opinion but I find it’s usually better to use a red dot sight on one of these than irons.”“Ok. Got anything in particular you would suggest checking out?”“Yes sir. Right over here” He proceeds to lead me around the counter to the far side and pull out around 5 different models of sight. “I would recommend this one. It’s pretty cheap and works great. I have one on my rifle at home.”We proceed to spend about 10 minutes checking out the sights. I settle on the second cheapest one which is actually the one he suggested in the first place and then we walk back to the gun counter area. “I’m going to need you to fill out this paperwork if you don’t mind” I fill out the paperwork. Takes about 2 minutes. He gets his coworker to run it through the instant background check. I’m validated in less than 2 minutes. “Looks like it’s all good. Would you come over to the register and finish the purchase please?”About a minute later I was holding my rifle, sight and an ammo box with 500 rounds and walking out the door.If I had known exactly what I wanted on that day and hadn’t wanted any extras I could have been in and out in 5 minutes. The reason why this was so fast is because I’m an American citizen who has no record beyond a single misdemeanor driving ticket who went to a reputable gun store and didn’t act suspicious. If you are a felon, you can’t get guns. If you act suspicious they can refuse to sell to you.̶O̶b̶v̶i̶o̶u̶s̶l̶y̶ ̶i̶f̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶A̶m̶e̶r̶i̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶c̶i̶t̶i̶z̶e̶n̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶w̶o̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶a̶b̶l̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶u̶y̶ ̶g̶u̶n̶s̶ ̶e̶i̶t̶h̶e̶r̶.̶It’s been brought to my attention that non citizens can actually purchase firearms in the US if they have a greencard. My apologies. The reason I brought up the “Full Semi Auto” crap earlier. The media lies to you. What they are trying to imply is that the weapon was automatic meaning when you pull the trigger it keeps firing. What it actually means is that the weapon is semi automatic which means it only shoots one bullet when you pull the trigger. It’s a way to demonize gun owners like myself and make us all seem like crazy mass murders. It’s honestly infuriating.
How can I buy Tesla shares from India?Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook. We all have grown up using these companies’ products/services. Obviously everyone’s interested in stock market would like to invest there too.But wait, since they won’t be listed on Indian stock exchange, how to do it?There are basically 3 ways you can invest in Tesla,Open an account with Indian Brokerage firm who has a tie-up with foreign broker. Like ICICIdirect, HDFC sec, Reliance Money etc.. They provides the service where you can open your overseas trading account with their foreign brokerage partner.Open account with foreign brokers. Some international brokers are out there who permits Indian citizen to open account and trade in US market like Interactive Brokers, TD Ameritrade, Charles Schwab International Account.Buy Indian MF(Mutual Fund)/ETF(Exchange Traded fund) with global equities. Mutual Fund basically invests in stock market, Government bonds and other securities. There are few firms which invest in international market. You can invest indirectly there but you will never know if your money went in Tesla or not. But this is probably safest option I know because you will not have to open Overseas trading account plus you will save the minimum deposit roughly $10,000. Here are few popular mutual funds who trade in global market, ICICI Pru US Bluechip Equity – D (G), Motilal MOSt Oswal NASDAQ 100 ETF, Reliance US Equity Opp. Fund DP (G), Edelweiss Greater China Eqty-Direct andKotak US Equity Fund – Direct (G).Now that you know the ways to invest, here are some food for thoughts. The reason why people invest in foreign stock exchanges.People want to invest in their favorite companies, of course Elon Musk/Steve Job are everyone’s idol. We all believe in them, their vision. Also Google, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook are darlings of this generation.Diversification - Investing in foreign companies helps in diversification. Investing in foreign companies mitigate the risk when Indian market gets crash.Bigger Opportunities - The point is there are thousands of better companies out there. There is no boundary anymore.Investors believe that foreign companies have better resources, facility, government cooperation. That makes them high rated. Some Critical Points to know before you invest in TeslaUp to $2,50,000 can be invested overseas by Indian resident as per RBI. That is roughly 1.7 crores. That’s enough, right?High Charges - Here you will be transecting in foreign money. You will be paying brokerage charges in their currency that is USD (1 USD~68.5 INR). So, will the AMC(annual Maintenance charges).Profit are subjected to currency exchange rate - Price of INR against USD will constantly change, so suppose you invested when it was 1$=₹68 , so when you sell the stock maybe the price changes to 1$=₹60. In such case you already lost 11.7%. That’s why when you invest in foreign stocks, profits are always subjected to the currency exchange rate.To know more about such topics please visit, Blog - Trade Brainsor Join Pundits of Stock market at Indian Stock Market Tribe- TRADE BRAINS.
How does it feel to be secretly rich?Around strangers, it's easy. Around friends and neighbors, its work. Most people in the United States have at least one of my products in their home, and would instantly recognize the company, but they wouldn't know me. There's never a random “hey, aren't you the CEO of…” on the street, or checking into a hotel, so that part is fairly easy.On the flip side, I think I've done a pretty good job of keeping things on the down low among friends. I personally bring home about $4 million a year, but I'm not really into displays of wealth - not because I'm actively hiding anything, I just think most of that stuff is kind of tacky and isn't interesting. Our house isn’t over the top. It's larger than average, but we also have three kids so that's expected. It does sit on 60 acres, but we tell people only five of those acres are ours. We have a couple of cars (her primary, my primary, a truck, and a couple of classics in the garage) but all are American made and none newer than five years old. Both of the classics are actually pretty rare cars which would fetch over $100k a piece if I ever sold them, but since I'm also known for being kind of a gear head and did a lot of work on it myself, everyone just assumes they were once junkers I brought back from the dead or aren't all original parts. This part is pretty easy since there visibly aren't too many cues that would tip someone off. Everything was paid for with cash, including the house, but realistically outside of the land value, someone making $150k-200k could afford all of the same stuff if they financed/mortgaged it.The main difficulty is trying to relate and being careful what I say. Most of our friends are in that $150–200k range, but they're in debt up to their eyeballs to maintain their lifestyles. They're driving new leased Mercedes and BMW’s and probably think they're doing better than I am financially - which is fine by me.Its just little things I have to watch out for. A buddy invited me to bring one of the classics to a car show he was going to once, but I declined and said it acting up and I needed to work on it. I left the hood up for a week in case he came over. Really I just didn't want the attention - someone there would have recognized it for what it was. Occasionally when someone notices how much land surrounds my house, I'll say something like I hope the owner never decides to build on it. Before we take a family trip, I will mention that I'm saving up for it a couple months prior, when really we could just go. I also own property in other states that no one knows about - one of them is a place along a river in Tennessee and a few of us are going down there next month to witness the eclipse. They think it's just a place I rented for the weekend.Honestly, I don't like the deception - these are good friends, but seeing how they all are with their money and how they regard it, I don't want them to know the truth. I hear about all of their money problems and how they talk about other people who are better off than they are, and there's a lot of disdain and jealously there. it's just not worth the hassle. The problem is I think most of the people I've met in my own income bracket and higher are pretentious douchebags, so I don't really want to hang out with them either. My life doesn't revolve around money, and that isn't the case for most of the people I've met with an income over $1 million, so I don't really relate to them. I would rather vacation to a rustic cabin in the woods than some flashy five star resort.
I pay about 400 USD for health insurance in Australia. what kind of Obamacare coverage can I buy with that money for a family with one toddler?Your monthly premium will be based on many factors so it’s hard to give you a concrete answer, or actually even much of an estimate.I think you will find a lot of people in America would be eager to pay what you are paying now.I doubt you will be able to find a policy for you and your family for that amount. Even finding a policy that satisfies the health insurance requirement for that amount would be difficult. It seems that most companies are charging more for nothing everyday. To give you an idea about what health insurance costs consider my plan for a single young adult. The monthly premium for a good plan, a plan that actually pays something and is better than many, is right at $490. There were cheaper options available but not much cheaper. If my memory serves me correctly, and sometimes it calls in sick, I remember plans starting right around $400. Again these prices are for a younger adult male for 2016.EDIT: Jay Chappie made a great point that I had not defined what I meant by a “good plan that actually pays something”.Some of the benefits for my plan include:Copays for In-Network Office Visits That do not require the deductible to be satisfied before applying):In-Network PCP Copay: $15In-Network Specialist Copay: $30Prescription Drug Copays (That do not require the deductible to be satisfied before applying):Tier 1 Drugs: $10 CopaymentTier 2 Drugs: $25 CopaymentTier 3 Drugs: $45 CopaymentTier 4 Drugs: $65 CopaymentDeductibles:In-Network Deductible: $1,000Out-Of-Network Deductible: $2,000Out of Pocket Limits:In-Network Out of Pocket Limit: $4,000Out-Of-Network Deductible: $8,000For an example of the difference, a medication I take for narcolepsy is considered a Tier 2 and has a copayment of $25.A plan offered by my former employer with a monthly cost of right around $394 and an In-Network Deductible of $3,200 per year. For this plan the deductible is: “The fixed dollar amount that you pay each year toward eligible health care services before your plan benefits are payable. Once the deductible has been met, the co-payment and/or coinsurance period of your plan may begin.”In other words, this plan pays nothing until you have satisfied the deductible. The same medication I have to pay $25 for a month, regardless of whether or not my deductible has been met, I would have to pay $283.51 per month until the $3,200 deductible has been met and then I would be responsible for 20%, or $56.70.This plan also pays nothing on office visits until the deductible has been satisfied and once it has been satisfied pays 80%. This is in contrast to the copayments that apply immediately regardless of the deductible with my current plan.So on one hand, with plan A, the more expensive plan, I pay $490 per month ($5,880 a year ) and the plan starts paying immediately. With plan B, I would be paying $394 per month ($4,728 per year) and then have to pay another $3,200 in the form of a deductible before the plan would start paying, or applying any benefits to my claims.I hope that makes sense._______________________________________________________The following is a summation of quotes for a family of 3 consisting of one 30 year old male, one 30 year old female, and a year and a half year old female. The location is Van Buren county Arkansas. How do I fill the CSS college board application as an Indian?A2A,I have gone through that form and the whole process during my application months and the best thing you could do is ask your father/mother/guardian to gather all their last year and this year's income tax documents. Also, whatever properties that your family owns, you need to know their valuations and stuff.I think you should ask your father to fill it for you, it is an extremely tedious process and most of the things you'd have no idea about. I'm sure you have better things to invest your time in, especially given the nature of US college applications. However if you absolutely must, there are notes given beside each question, you can click on them and they'll tell you how to best answer that question. They can be very helpful. Try to hide as much unverifiable income as possible to boost your chances of getting aid.Good luck :)
How much are BTS Fan meeting tickets?Usually most kpop groups hold fansigns when they produce a new album. BTS included. To get into a fansign, you usually have to buy albums (based on lottery). It has to be bought in korea of course and when you buy them, they will give you a form to fill out. If you get chosen, you can go. The lowest price a fansign ticket will be the cost of 1 album if you were lucky enough to get in by buying 1 album. However, there are so many fans who would buy hundreds of albums just to try and get into a fansign (which ik it’s a waste of money). An album of Love yourself: Her costs 23 USD on amazon but I think that in Korea because of shipping and everything, it might cost less. (you can usually find them at big music shops)Hope this helps! :)
