Apparently the only people who can qualify for health insurance are those who dont need it to begin with. And those who need it are denied because of a pre-existing condition. They are no programs that help with prescriptions that I know of, that dont require tons and tons of paperwork, audits, background investigations, and appointment after appointment. I am really upset and am lost with regard to getting the medication my doctor says I need, reduced in price. I cant afford almost $600 a month. I have seen where about the same thing happened, while I was in Oklahoma. It wasn't for a million, but an elderly couple won a very large jackpot and were mugged as the left the casino.Anyway, there would be multiple possible ways. If I felt secure once getting in my car, I would just get plenty of security to get me there and would drive straight to a bank to deposit the cash.More likely, I would just deposit the money right back to the casino and get a room at the casino, I am sure it would be comp'd. I would ask for a check on withdrawal, or at worst hire someone such as an armored car, whatever necessary where someone has the liability and the security to get it moved to someplace secure.I would be more concerned with relatives and acquaintances wanting to nickel and dime me over the long term with the million than getting robbed.

There are some good answers here. But mine is for future reference. Next time you get a loaner, do a walk around of the entire vehicle when you pick it up and when you drop it off. This saved me from being blamed for existing damage on a rental car a few days ago. It’s simple to just pull your camera or cell phone out. Covers your a—.I was blamed for damage on a loaner car once. The service advisor failed to have me sign the inspection form verifying everything was fine on the vehicle and that there was no damage. I told this to the service manager and never heard from them again.One time a few years ago, I rented a car and there was damage all on the lower front of the bumper. The associate promised that he noted it in the system. Almost a MONTH after I returned the vehicle, I got an e-mail from Sixt (never again!) that I needed to immediately fill out an accident report so that they could start assessing what I owed them. I replied saying that there was pre-existing damage, that the employee saw it and said he noted it, and that my friend and I would be willing to sign sworn affidavits attesting to such. I refused to fill out any forms. They never emailed or contacted me again.Next time, just record. Way easier.

The swap on the return trip would be for the owner’s original battery, fully charged, and at no cost. That meant going back to the same swap station on the return trip. It meant owners had to swap back at a given time, or at least during station hours. But the biggest issue for me was that it wouldn’t have saved any time. On a long trip, I need to eat. The swap station was at Harris Ranch. There’s a Supercharger station there where I can charge for free. There’s also a restaurant. By the time I get seated, order, get my meal, eat, pay and get back to my car, I have a 100% charge anyway. Instead of paying for a swap, I pay for a meal that I would have eaten anyway and a swap wouldn’t save me a minute.Swap stations make sense if they save time. They also make sense if they save money, and at about half the cost of gasoline, they saved money. But a driver could save more time and more money by using a supercharger since it didn’t even require a five minute wait for a battery swap.If I travel from Silicon Valley to Los Angeles, the trip is about 400 miles. The closed swap station is on the way, and so are many supercharger stations. It’s also about as much as I’d want to drive on a given day without stopping for the night. With a Model 3 and a long range battery, I can make the trip with a single 17 minute charge to stop. I can’t finish a meal in 17 minutes and would need a second stop to use the restroom. A swap station would simply offer me no advantage.One of the big advantages of owning an EV is never having to stop for gasoline because on 98% of days, I charge at home when I’d be parked anyway, while I’m asleep. I have two EVs, and adding solar to my home, with enough capacity to charge both cars and power my home, cost less than the tax incentives on the cars. I am essentially charging for free for more than the life of the car, and not spending a minute doing so except for road trips.The problem is that there’s a perceived disadvantage since many people think that an EV delays trips. In real life, it doesn’t delay them for me. Granted I might be able to make that trip 18 minutes faster if I didn’t have to stop to charge, and might have needed a five minute stop for gasoline instead. But when I arrived at my destination tired and hungry, I’d end up going to a restaurant, and by the time I got out of the restaurant it would be later than the time I would have arrived had I charged and eaten en route.This doesn’t address the issue of people who have no place to charge at home. For them, infrastructure improvements are needed. Even though they may not have a regular place to charge, their cars still spend most of the time parked, so improving infrastructure is a better solution than swapping stations.When there are millions of EVs on the road, and some are 20 years old with diminished capacity, it might make sense to have swap stations. A person could swap for a battery with no range loss, use it for a trip, and then swap back at the end of the trip. A 300 mile battery that had degraded down to 180 miles might still be perfectly good for daily commuting, but on a road trip, could delay the trip by over an hour. Somebody who drives a 20 year old car might not want to pay thousands of dollars to get a new battery to save a few hours a year at most, but might be willing to pay for a battery swap.

Well to be very specific, I did my internship from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun which apparently is a part of the ISRO. I have a computer science engineering background, but I know about the procedure to join ISRO as a research trainee (that's what I was told when I joined the organisation). To get an internship in ISRO is not a cup of tea. You need to have a solid link who can atleast refer you to some divisional head and process your request, unlike in my case. There are very few centers of ISRO such as IIRS Dehradun, SAC Hyderabad, another one in Ahmedabad which provide internship programmes for the undergrads. In my case, I had applied online and had a referral from my department's head which helped me to get a call for the internship. Am I the only combat medic to answer this so far?Yes you can. Medics are taught how to but not instructed to. There is a terrible and fine line out there in “the suck” that medics, and medics alone, are asked to walk.You don’t end a person’s life. Full stop. In the rare case that a soldier is mortally wounded (no way to maintain an airway or control bleeding and no higher medical assets within a reasonable time)… then a medic could administer an extra ampule of or two. Even though the doctors and instructors teach the medics this, in the end it’s on that one person’s shoulders. And conscience.Is it better to leave your friend/co-worker screaming in agony until they are too weak to yell? Then watch them convulse every few minutes for a couple of hours. Then finally they stop responding to your voice or even painful stimulus.Brain death is setting in. It takes a few minutes or a few days.Every minute you have a seriously wounded soldier in your unit you have medics that are out of the fight. You also have a much more complicated command situation. Nobody (NOBODY) makes this decision lightly. They also never talk about it.In the movies there is always an EVAC helicopter with escort available and ready to risk anything to get to the wounded. In combat it’s not always possible. “Birds” get grounded for many reasons and MEDEVAC Strykers are delayed by the need for escort vehicles/crews and IED laden roads. In almost all cases, the wounded will live to see the operating room. In some form.Combat wounded are intense. Gunfire is still raging in many cases. People are yelling, confusion is everywhere. The medic will be well trained but under a lot of stress. They know that they have to address breathing and bleeding in 2–3 minutes. They also need to avoid causing further injury and find any hidden wounds. While doing this they have to coordinate any available soldiers with combat lifesaver training to assist them with this or other injured. Finally, they also have to constantly keep the command apprised of the situation.Who has X injury?Can they return to the fight?Do they need to be evacuated from battle or can we take them with us?If they need to go NOW, how long do they realistically have?Can we ground evac through the combat or do we need a bird?While answering all of that the medic has assessed the wounded. Tried to control the bleeding and established a secure airway. Then they need to find a vein for an IV (super hard on a patient with blood loss or missing limbs). While doing this they also need to fill out the ‘9 Line’ medical evacuation form for the radio. Once this is done the medic will check the field dressings, the IV, the breathing. Record the wounds and vitals. Mark when/if was given (how much, when, where administered) and done so that the surgeon can see it and blood doesn’t wash it away. Often in black sharpie on the forehead if patient is unconscious- as awful as that sounds it works well.So, don’t talk about the morality of this until you walk a mile (or 26) in a medic’s boots. Don’t talk about what happens until you live and work with a small team of men and women in a combat zone for over a year at a time. Infantry units are closer than most marriages/families. Your platoon SGT is dad and doc is mom. It’s a horrific moment to see one of your guys literally torn in half and dying. It’s much worse to know that due to a sandstorm there aren’t any flights that day. It’s hell on earth when you realize nobody is coming by road because of the IED you just hit. It’s unimaginable when you realize you only have 2 ampules left and 3 critically wounded friends.I didn’t have to make the hardest choice. I wouldn’t tell you if I did. I sure as &$*# wouldn’t take any judgement from you in any case.Great question. I hope someone who actually held this responsibility in combat can clear it up a little.
