I was selected for a summer internship 2016.I tried to be very open while filling the preference form: I choose many products as my favorite products and I said I'm open about the team I want to join.I even was very open in the  location and start date to get host matching interviews (I negotiated the start date in the interview until both me and my host were happy.) You could ask your recruiter to review your form (there are very cool and could help you a lot since they have a bigger experience).Do a search on the potential team.Before the interviews,  try to find smart question that you are going to ask for the potential host (do a search on the team  to find nice and deep questions to impress your host). Prepare well your resume.You are very likely not going to get algorithm/data structure questions like in the first round. It's going to be just some friendly chat if you are lucky. If your potential team is working on something like machine learning, expect that  they are going to ask you questions about machine learning, courses related to machine learning you have and relevant experience (projects, internship). Of course you have to study that before the interview. Take as long time as you need if you feel rusty. It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview)  but it's worth it of course.

P.S. Long answer and my first attempt at answering any question on Quora. Sorry in advance.So this year IMT Ghaziabad and it’s other 3 branches had opened it’s admissions way back in November 2018. Just before the CAT exam, like many other private institutes their application date ended as well. Here’s the catch. As people overestimate their marks (like I did it as well), most of them don’t apply for IMT. So, IMT reopened the application process again in January 2019. We were asked to provide the preference of each campus and furthermore the preference of specializations in each campus.The applications ended by almost Jan 30th and the interview letters started getting handed out. This time there was a major change in the process. It only consisted of PI. Earlier IMT had a GD cum PI process. From what I have learnt, my seniors, teachers and all others involved in MBA preparation whom I know have told me that IMT GD was always a fish market. 10–15 students 5 mins overall, less than a minute for each. Obviously, things are bound to go south. So, every one welcomed the decision of going away with GD. But all were skeptical if PI alone could determine the talent or ability of an applicant.The results were released on 18th March. There were lot of chaos added to the confusion created by some people over a repetitive admission ruckus that had happened last year as well. Few of my questions which may ring in your heads as well and which their AdCom failed big time to answer:They always mention 480 seats in total for PGDM and 120 seats for PGDM DCP. So why the hell do they ask for specialization preference during the admission process? One gets the impression that there must be a preset seat matrix for each specialization i.e. Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations, IT, Strategic apart from Core but no, there are in total 480 seats which is upto their own comfort. They can take 10 marketing 30 fin and so on according to their wish. simply gutted!The have released the weightages for final score. 35% for best score in cat/xat/gmat/cmat (i noticed that there was no cmat score or mention of appearance in cmat exam in the admission form) 35% academics and quality of institution 10 %quality of work ex 20% PI performance. Now here the “QUALITY” which they are talking of has no transparency or mentioning, which institutes and firms get an upper hand on quality, what is the score for each type of institute, they haven’t mentioned it.assuming all these are done perfectly without glitches. the call letters are handed out, the wait list are done. So I did not get selected. I got waitlisted. Now, since I have applied for every program for IMT-G I should’ve got a common waitlist although I should have got waitlist separately for each specialization. Not only me but everyone who has got a waitlist number has got the waitlist for DCP. This is explained by their incompetent AdCom members on Pagalguy, they haven’t explicitly mentioned it on their site. The added catch is that many people unlike me have got DCP despite not applying for it.3 of my friends got Marketing but they already have other offer so they won’t join. So in turn the next top 3 in waitlist should be getting in right? NO! IMT apparently churns out BUFFER CALLS so that there is no waitlist in PGDM 480 seats. So, I believe IMT has a scientist or gyaani future telling baba who can predict how many (exact no. of )people will leave their buffer calls and how many will accept the calls so that exact 480 seats will be filled up.Their results write-up says that 93 percentile is the cutoff for PGDM and 90 for PGDM DCP. Their AdCom says that it is derived on the basis of PI. So, apparently if I was a 91 percentiler with extra-ordinary academics and co-curricular, I still would be preferred only for DCP even if I had given an astounding interview. So, the weightage above is a kind of mere formality.This is the ruckus at IMT-G. You may call it biased but I won’t reapply for such a college and advise the same for my friends, juniors etc.EDIT 1: Thanks for the 1000+ views on my first answer. Way to go for many more honest answers :PBTW I just decided to follow the IMT process till the very end. So, I went back to the website and guess what the waitlist has moved by 250. Now here is the catch:Any person who has got any program has to take up the admission offer. i.e. If you have got marketing or fin or b&fs, you simply have to take it. This means, either you take it up, pay the initial amount and settle down OR don’t pay and you leave the entire IMT-G admission process. YES! If you don’t accept what you get, you are automatically rejected for other programs.My 3 friends who got marketing chucked the offer, which means 3 empty seats for marketing. They are out of the admission process even if marketing wasn’t their first choice. Also, anyone who got any other program except marketing won’t be upgraded as per point 1.Here comes the fun part! No one who got 1–250 waitlist number got marketing, they got finance or b&fs. So where did those 3 marketing seats go? (ponder) Also, people who had 600+ waitlist number got dcp in the 2nd merit list. Voila!
