foreign we do the best that we can here at Cook Children's this is the last resort to come to the emergency department we've seen a significant rise in our number of behavioral health and mental health patients that we see in the emergency department but we're seeing even younger and younger kids eight nine-year-olds anxiety and Suicidal Thoughts thinking they don't belong and wish they were dead space needs physical bed space where we can house patients we weren't able to double room people because of covid and so it even decreased the number of beds yeah it's very stressing you feel terrible for the families when they're trapped here for hours days on end trying to find placement in our emergency department we start in triage we will ask our screening questions and if we deem them a high-risk patient based on their answers to those questions they're assigned a one-to-one sitter we tell our staff all the time that they do meaningful work by asking these questions and screening these k
