good morning my name is Dan geschwind and I'm the director of cart I'm a professor of Neurology and Psychiatry and human genetics at UCLA and it's really my great pleasure to welcome you to our annual advances in autism this year 2023. we're excited to be back in person and for the first time ever we're having this kind of hybrid format we learned a lot during uh you know you know during covet and so it allowed us to break out of our model and experiment of course we've missed being in person but we like to give people the uh possibility of being virtuals uh you know especially travel and other issues um this year's theme really has to do with the mental health and co-occurring conditions of autism and what we do is we have pre-recorded talks which I hope people have listened to and if you haven't they're on YouTube and you have the links you can ask if you haven't and then but what we've decided to do is have the in person rather than us being Talking Heads really having conversations
