welcome I'm Brock Miller and DNR's recreation manager thank you for joining us to discuss the development of DNR's recreational trails policy tonight we're providing you a presentation about the background of the policy and our next steps briefly this presentation will provide an overview of what DNR does our recreation program and then in greater detail we will cover the development of the recreational trails policy and finally how you can provide input on the policy DNR manages 5.6 million acres including about 3.2 million acres of trust lands and 2.4 million acres of aquatic land DNR also manages about a hundred and fifty six thousand acres in the natural areas program primarily recreation occurs on the state trust lands these lands are held for tres benefits beneficiaries such as K through 12 schools universities and counties recreation also occurs on natural resource conservation areas and some natural area preserves the recreation on these lands tend to be lower impact about 2.2
