welcome back in this video we'll talk about tuberculosis testing we have three tests that we can use either by staining a microbiology biopsy or by using a ppd scan test also known as tuberculin skin test or by doing lab work such as rgra the first is the easiest and the initial step which is doing a chest x-ray and taking a sputen sample in a patient with tb we should see some findings of the chest like cavitation in the upper lobe and the sputum acid fast staining will be positive for tb cells this is confirmative that this patient has tuberculosis and they should be isolated and heavily treated if you are asked about the most accurate mechanism of diagnosis it is of course taking a biopsy and looking for the cells themselves the second test we have is the ppd scan test basically we'll inject some dead bacteria and their proteins immediately beneath the skin and we'll wait for two days there will be some inflammation and activity and there will be some level of erythema and duration
