[Birds chirp, ducks quack. Water runnning] The Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, it's right in the middle of a very urban area. It's stuck in the center. A little, green island. -: One of the things I like about the refuge is that it's easily accessible. I mean it's get off I-5 and drive in the front door. -: It's a place people can come with strollers, where people can come with wheelchairs. So, it's very accessible but also kind of a comfortable, safe way for people to come and experience wild and wilderness. It's a nice introduction to what that kind of outdoor experience can be. -: In 1974 the refuge was established. It really was the community that worked together and really fought to preserve and protect this Nisqually River Delta. -: Teachers that I work with were out advocating for what they thought was best for this place to become a place that could support wild creatures and allow them to exist.
