REL 261: Christian Ethics and Modern Society with Eric Gregory. Gregory is one of the most fair-minded professors I've ever met, which is pretty important for a Christian ethics class. While he is a Christian, he doesn't require or even expect you to be as well. So, if you're a Christian, you get really unique perspectives on modern ethical issues that you would have never ordinarily have thought of, while if you're a non-Christian, you start to understand why Christians act like they do. It's a class that will actually change your life.HIS 383: The United States, 1920-1974 with Kevin Kruse. Kruse is one of the best lecturers I've ever had. He begins and ends each lecture with a song from the era, "setting the mood". He intersperses videos as well. And he's just a generally charismatic lecturer. Definitely get him for precept as well, if possible. Additionally, the course itself is great; it's not a period of history that you hear much more about than "the Great Depression happened and FDR saved people and then World War II and then Vietnam, plus MLK somewhere." There's so much more to all of it. I took this class to fill a history requirement, and almost became a history major.COS 126: General Computer Science. Such a fantastic course. It's NOT just programming; most of the second half is more focused on theory. A lot of kids drop it. But if you like it, you'll love it.FRS 169: The Rest of the Story: The Six O'Clock News, Intelligence, National Security, and You with Diane Snyder. It's not offered this year, but if possible, take it. The professor is an ex-CIA agent; sometimes she goes on tangents, but the tangents are usually more interesting than the course material (though the course material is fascinating as well). Add in two amazing guest lecturers, and this class is the best class that I've ever taken.

Because they surround themselves with the wrong people.It is true that many people at Princeton live a certain way, but that does not mean that the rest of the school lives that way. Princeton has placed too much effort on emphasizing their diversity, so you can be sure that there is no homogeneous "Princetonian" lifestyle to fit in with. Sure, one may not identify with Princeton as a whole, if one chooses to define Princeton as what the majority makes it. (Personally, I wouldn't define it as such). Princeton was well established before the American colonies sought independence from England; but then, so were most of the other Ivy Leagues – all but Cornell, I believe: As you can see from this Wiki list, Colonial colleges there were nine colleges before the Revolutionary war, and seven of them are in the Ivy League.I have no idea what would distinguish Princeton from the other Ivies. it’s not the oldest nor the youngest nor the smallest nor the most rural. It doesn’t offer fewer or more kinds of degrees than any other. It may have been considered the most beautiful when it was built, but I’m not sure of that, because I’m not sure how many of the buildings that I saw when I visited were actually in existence in 1750 and how many are newer buildings designed in the same model.I do agree there’s something different about it; Yale, Harvard, Columbia, and Penn are urban, while the other four are in more suburban or rural settings; Cornell is a full hundred years older; and Princeton, Brown, and Dartmouth are the three that have remained primarily liberal arts colleges, lacking graduate and professional programs. But why Princeton would be singled out from among those three, I do not know.

As much as there are stereotypes associated with each major (in Princeton and in college in general), I think it depends more on the person and less on the major. Your major is supposed to be something you are passionate about.I'm a current student at Princeton. I have friends in almost all majors who are happy or unhappy.I really don't think there is much of a correlation between happiness and major.

in terms of the quality of physics research being done in 21st century, Princeton is best, probably comfortably so, and Cambridge is better than Oxford or Imperial. For example, Cambridge hasn't had a Nobel prize in physics since 1989, whereas Princeton is still getting more than one a decade. This is slightly complicated by the fact that a lot of what the rest of the world considers theoretical physics (including cosmology and string theory) is considered to be Maths at Cambridge - Stephen Hawking is the most famous living physicist in the UK, and he is in the applied maths department at Cambridge.In terms of reputation for excellence in physics among non-physicists (and therefore in the cocktail-party value of the degree) Cambridge is probably about equal to Princeton, because academic reputations adjust slowly and the Cavendish has a truly spectacular history.In terms of being a good place to do an undergraduate degree in physics, the courses are so different that you should choose based on the course, not on institutional quality. Basically, Princeton offers an American liberal arts education in which you take courses for credit in a wide range of subjects outside your major (including some arts and humanities courses), Oxford and Imperial offer conventional single-subject physics degrees, and Cambridge has the Natural Sciences Tripos where you take a range of sciences in year one and then specialise in years two or three, as well as a Mathematical tripos which allows you to specialise in applied maths and theoretical physics from the second year on.If you want to understand what quantum mechanics actually means, you should study Physics & Philosophy at Oxford. As far as I know, it is the only course of its type (i.e. studying both subjects in a way designed to build up a connected body of knowledge, not just mixing modules from two course catalogues) in the world.For engineering, I know a lot less, but in general it is worth noting that engineering is the only subject area where Imperial is generally acknowledged as being as good as Oxbridge.
