at Georgia Southern our Dietetic internship program allows students to receive the Ascend required supervised practice experience that's where they do their training out in the community and them with that they're then allowed to take the registered dietitian exam the Georgia Southern Dietetic internship program is a one-year commitment in that first summer you take five classes that helps prepare those future intern with the skill base what they'll need when they go into practicals so in the fall they still continue with one more class while they go to their practicums Tuesday through Friday and in the spring they're full-time in their practicum settings going to all these different rotation sites where an RD could work that I never really realized they could it's been a great eye opening experience for me when I came to college I was actually a civil engineering major and I just fell in love with the chemistry and nutrition classes like I'm gonna do this instead I've been to the scho
