What the Advanced Business Request Is

The Advanced Business Request is a formal, structured submission used by organizations to request approvals, resources, or contractual commitments from internal or external stakeholders. It typically combines a clear scope, timeline, cost or consideration terms, supporting attachments, and designated signature blocks. In the United States, properly executed Advanced Business Requests may be completed electronically when they meet the ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. §7001) and applicable state UETA requirements, preserving enforceability and auditability.

Why a Well-Prepared Advanced Business Request Matters

A precise Advanced Business Request reduces processing time, clarifies obligations, and documents approvals for audit and compliance. It limits disputes by stating deliverables, responsibilities, and timelines clearly while supporting electronic execution and recorded audit trails under U.S. e-signature law.

Why a Well-Prepared Advanced Business Request Matters

Who Typically Prepares and Reviews These Requests

Teams that commonly prepare Advanced Business Requests include procurement, legal, finance, project management, and business operations; reviewers usually include budget owners and compliance officers.

Multiple signers may be required; assign authorized approvers and document their authority to avoid invalid signatures or delayed processing.

Essential Components of a Professional Advanced Business Request

A complete submission follows a consistent structure so approvers can assess risk, cost, and schedule quickly.

Header

Identify the requesting department, document title, version, and an effective date so reviewers can track iterations and control the request lifecycle.

Scope

Define objectives, deliverables, and exclusions clearly; concise scope reduces ambiguity about what the request authorizes and what remains out of scope.

Timing

Provide precise start and completion dates, key milestones, and any critical deadlines that affect resource allocation or regulatory filing windows.

Cost and Consideration

List itemized costs, funding sources, budget codes, and payment terms so finance can validate availability and impact on current spending.

Supporting Attachments

Attach quotes, technical specifications, vendor certifications, or regulatory permits required to validate the request and meet audit requirements.

Signature Blocks

Include signatory names, roles, dates, and any witness or notary lines required by jurisdiction or internal policy for enforceability.

  • Review: Assigned approvers check scope, budget, and compliance.
  • Sign: Authorized parties sign electronically or in-person as required.
  • Store: Final signed copy and audit trail are archived for retention.

Integrations and Platform Requirements for eSubmission
