What an Article Submission Registration Is

An Article Submission Registration is a standardized form used to collect author and manuscript details when submitting a scholarly article, journal piece, or online publication entry. It documents authorship, contact information, affiliations, manuscript title and abstract, author order and contributions, disclosure statements, licensing or copyright preferences, and any submission fees or processing options. The registration creates a record that publishers, editorial staff, and administrative offices use to route the manuscript through peer review, production, and publication. Accurate registration supports timely processing and preserves a clear audit trail for authors and editors.

Why a Clear Registration Matters

A complete registration reduces processing delays, supports correct author attribution, and protects intellectual property and compliance obligations. It creates an auditable record for editors and administrators.

Why a Clear Registration Matters

Who Typically Completes the Registration

Each role may provide different data points: authors supply content and disclosures, administrators add institutional identifiers, and editorial staff confirm compliance with submission requirements.

  • Corresponding author preparing manuscript and disclosures
  • Research administrator or departmental support staff
  • Journal editorial or production staff validating submission details

Essential Components of a Professional Registration

A professional Article Submission Registration includes structured fields, clear instructions, required-file attachments, signatory blocks, versioning metadata, and routing rules. These components make the form machine-readable, reduce manual follow-up, and integrate with editorial or institutional workflows.

Author Details

Full names, ORCID iDs, emails, and affiliations in a consistent format to enable discovery and indexing.

Manuscript Data

Title, running head, abstract, keywords, and suggested reviewer information where applicable for routing.

Contributions

Author roles and contribution statements (e.g., conceptualization, methodology, writing) to clarify credit.

Disclosure Statements

Funding sources, conflicts of interest, and data availability statements required by many journals.

Copyright/Licensing

Author's selection for copyright transfer or open-access license and any embargo preferences.

Attachments

Upload fields for manuscript files, cover letters, supplementary data, and institutional approvals.

  • Administrative Check: Editorial staff confirm completeness and compliance
  • Peer Review Routing: Manager assigns reviewers and tracks responses
