What a Business Accuracy Report is and when it’s used

A Business Accuracy Report documents the verified factual status of business information — legal name, tax identifiers, ownership, financial summaries, and attestations about data integrity. It is commonly used to support due diligence, lender underwriting, vendor onboarding, regulatory reporting, and internal control reviews by summarizing sources, methodologies, and any discrepancies discovered during verification. The report creates an auditable record that stakeholders can rely on for decision-making, contract formation, or regulatory compliance when it includes dated signatory attestations and a clear chain of custody for source documents.

Why a Business Accuracy Report matters for risk control and compliance

A clear, dated Business Accuracy Report reduces legal and financial risk by documenting verified facts and data sources, supporting auditability and reducing dispute likelihood. It helps satisfy third-party requirements, informs contracting decisions, and creates a reproducible record for internal and external reviewers while aligning with ESIGN and UETA standards when executed electronically.

Why a Business Accuracy Report matters for risk control and compliance

Typical users and who completes the report

The Business Accuracy Report is completed by internal compliance teams, corporate secretaries, outside auditors, or third-party verification providers depending on context.

  • Compliance teams conducting vendor or counterparty onboarding and record verification.
  • Finance or accounting personnel preparing data for lenders or investors.
  • Legal or corporate governance officers attesting to entity formation and authority.

Signers are usually authorized officers or designated agents; the report should identify who performed verification and who holds signing authority.

Core sections to include in a professional report

A Business Accuracy Report follows a consistent structure so reviewers can find and assess verification quickly. Core sections include identification, data sources, verification methodology, findings, discrepancy analysis, and signatures or attestations that confirm who validated the information and when.

Data sources
