Practical Tips for Accurate and Efficient Completion

Follow these best practices to reduce disputes, save time, and maintain compliance during contract creation and execution.

Use Consistent Legal Names
Always enter the formal registered entity or individual legal name exactly as it appears on formation or government ID documents to avoid signature attribution and tax reporting issues.
Document Version Control
Keep a single source of truth and use version stamps to prevent signing of outdated drafts; route only the final approved PDF for signature to avoid ambiguity.
Define Deliverables Precisely
List measurable acceptance criteria, formats, and delivery dates so payment triggers and disputes are clear and objectively verifiable by both parties.
Preserve Audit Evidence
Retain the signed PDF and the platform’s certificate of completion (timestamps, IP, authentication method) to support enforceability under ESIGN and state UETA frameworks.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid When Preparing This Agreement

  • Vague scope or deliverable descriptions that create differing expectations and lead to payment disputes between parties.
  • Inconsistent signatory names or missing tax identification details that complicate invoicing and 1099 reporting.

  • Overlooking jurisdictional clauses or notarization requirements that can affect enforceability in certain states.
