What the Business Behaviors Document Is

The Business Behaviors Document is a written company policy that defines expected conduct, workplace standards, reporting procedures, and enforcement metrics for employees and contractors. It consolidates roles, prohibited behaviors, escalation paths, and remediation steps so managers and staff have a single reference for acceptable conduct. The document can be used for training, performance evaluations, investigations, and as part of compliance programs that intersect with employment law, privacy obligations, and internal audit requirements.

Why a Clear Business Behaviors Document Matters

A concise Business Behaviors Document reduces ambiguity, supports consistent enforcement, and strengthens legal defensibility by showing notice and process. When used correctly it helps demonstrate organizational intent and process under ESIGN (15 U.S.C. §7001) and UETA-consistent frameworks for electronic records and signatures.

  • Managers and operations leaders who enforce standards and document corrective actions consistently.
