What the Business Correspondence BMO Letter Is

The Business Correspondence BMO Letter is a formal business-to-bank communication template used to request account actions, confirm corporate details, update payment instructions, or provide documentation to Bank of Montreal (BMO) or its business services. It standardizes sender identification, account references, and authorizations so banking teams can process requests consistently. The letter typically includes company and signer details, a clear request or instruction, supporting attachments, and an explicit signature block. When properly completed, it reduces back-and-forth, speeds processing, and creates a clear audit trail for internal and external review.

Why a Standardized BMO Business Letter Matters

A consistent Business Correspondence BMO Letter helps ensure banking staff receive complete information, preventing delays or misrouting. Clear structure reduces follow-up requests and supports compliance, recordkeeping, and audit needs.

  • Accounts Payable managers and finance staff providing payment or banking instruction updates to the bank.
  • Corporate treasury or CFO-level signers authorizing changes to payment rails or account access.
  • Legal or compliance officers attaching formal documentation, such as board resolutions or authority letters.

The recipient and processing contact should be noted; include any internal reference numbers so the bank can match the request quickly.
