What Business Document SS89 Is and when it applies

Business Document SS89 is a standardized commercial agreement template used to document transactional terms, parties, effective dates, and deliverables for routine B2B engagements. The form records key contract terms, payment or consideration, and signature blocks for authorized signers. It is designed to be completed, executed, and retained as an official business record and can be delivered electronically or on paper depending on party preference and legal requirements.

Why documenting SS89 correctly matters legally and operationally

A properly completed SS89 clarifies obligations, reduces disputes, and creates an auditable record suitable for enforcement. Electronic execution is generally valid under the ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. ch. 96) and UETA (1999) when intent, consent, attribution, and retention requirements are met.
