What the Business DRAY Document Is and When It’s Used

The Business DRAY Document is a commercial record used to document a short-haul freight, pickup, or delivery arrangement between a shipper, carrier, and consignee. It establishes the parties, service description, dates, and handling instructions, and it can record liability limits, delivery receipts, and payment terms. Depending on the workflow, the document may function as a bill of lading substitute for drayage, a carrier service order, or an internal authorization to move goods. Clear, complete DRAY documents reduce disputes and create an auditable transaction record for operations, billing, and regulatory review.

Why a Precise Business DRAY Document Matters

A correctly completed Business DRAY Document clarifies responsibilities, reduces carrier and consignee disputes, supports accurate invoicing, and preserves evidence of delivery and handling. It also creates a record for insurance and regulatory reviews while improving operational predictability.
