What the Business eCOMPAS Document Is

The Business eCOMPAS Document is a standardized corporate assessment and compliance form that collects operational, financial, and regulatory information into a single record. It brings together risk disclosures, contract terms, signature authority, and supporting exhibits so organizations can complete due diligence, onboarding, or internal audits consistently. Designed for electronic completion and secure eSigning, the document supports audit trails and retention requirements while enabling optional notarization or witness procedures when state or transaction rules require them.

Why a Structured Business eCOMPAS Document Matters

A consolidated Business eCOMPAS Document reduces redundant data entry, clarifies signatory authority, and preserves a durable record for legal and regulatory review. It supports intent, attribution, and retention requirements under ESIGN and UETA while making reviews and audits more efficient.

Representative Use Cases and Customer Experience

Real-world examples show how teams use the Business eCOMPAS Document to reduce friction and preserve compliance records during complex transactions.

Optica Ventures — COO

Optica standardized their intake process and reduced signer confusion by combining forms into one package.

  • As a result, turnaround times shortened and external counterparties completed required fields more consistently, improving operational throughput without sacrificing auditability.

Xerox — Director

Xerox integrated structured assessments with their ERP to auto-populate fields and reduce manual entry.

  • Integration improved accuracy.
  • That flexibility allowed the team to get correct signatures in the right formats and reduced repetitive review cycles across global operations.

Practical Tips for Accurate and Efficient Completion

Apply consistent standards and internal controls to reduce review cycles and ensure legal defensibility.

Verify Signatory Authority
Confirm titles and corporate resolutions before sending. Record proof of authority within the document package to prevent rejection by counterparties or compliance teams.
Use Consistent Naming
Standardize legal entity naming across all fields and attachments. Avoid abbreviations that differ from formation documents or tax filings.
Select Appropriate Authentication
Choose authentication strength based on transaction risk—email for low-risk, SMS or KBA for higher-risk, and advanced methods when regulated.
Preserve Audit Trails
Retain signed PDFs, certificates of completion, and metadata to satisfy ESIGN/UETA requirements and support future audits or disputes.
