What the Business Exigo Report Is and When It’s Used

The Business Exigo Report is a structured corporate reporting template used to summarize financial positions, operational metrics, compliance checkpoints, and governance items for a single reporting period. Organizations use it to present standardized information to internal stakeholders, external advisors, or third-party reviewers. The report typically combines quantitative schedules, narrative summaries, and a signed attestation from an authorized officer to confirm accuracy and completeness.

Why a Consistent Business Exigo Report Matters

A consistent Business Exigo Report reduces miscommunication between departments, standardizes due-diligence reviews, and creates a single, auditable record of the facts relied on for decisions. It streamlines internal approvals and supports regulatory, investor, and lender review processes.

Why a Consistent Business Exigo Report Matters

Who Prepares and Reviews Business Exigo Reports

The report is typically prepared by finance or compliance teams and reviewed by management, auditors, lenders, or outside counsel.

  • Finance teams: compile financial schedules, reconcile balances, and prepare variance explanations for leadership review.
  • Compliance teams: confirm regulatory items, controls testing results, and any exceptions requiring remediation.
  • External reviewers: auditors, lenders, or investors use the report for due diligence and risk assessment.

Roles vary by organization size; smaller firms may combine these responsibilities in a single officer while larger enterprises use specialized departments.

Stepwise Process to Complete a Business Exigo Report

Follow these sequential steps to assemble and finalize the report with clear ownership and an auditable trail.

  • 01
Gather Source Documents: Collect ledgers, bank statements, contracts, and compliance logs.
  • 02
Populate Schedules: Enter financials, reconciliations, and variance notes into standard templates.
  • 03
Internal Review: Compliance or accounting reviews for accuracy and exceptions.
  • 04
Sign and Archive: Authorized officer signs; retain final copy with audit trail.

Typical Workflow for Producing and Routing the Report

A clear routing process limits delays and creates a searchable history of approvals and changes.

  • Draft Preparation: Preparer uploads draft and attaches supporting files.
  • Reviewer Assignment: Assign reviewers and set deadlines for feedback.
  • Revision Cycle: Incorporate comments and finalize figures.
  • Final Approval: Authorized signer executes final attestation and signs.

Digital Configuration for Online Completion

Configure fields and signer order before distribution to enforce routing and collect a complete audit trail.

Field Configuration
Signer Order Sequential or parallel signer routing; choose sequential for approvals requiring signatory order.
Required Fields Mark core fields as required to prevent missing data on submission.
Authentication Set email, SMS code, or KBA depending on document sensitivity.
Audit Trail Enable full event logging (timestamps, IP addresses) for compliance.

Technical Options for eSubmission and Signing

Choose a platform configuration that matches your authentication, retention, and integration needs.

  • Formats Supported: PDF, DOCX, and fillable forms accepted.
  • Integrations: Connectors for CRM, ERP, and cloud storage are advisable.
  • Authentication Levels: Email, SMS, KBA, or advanced signer authentication.

Ensure chosen settings align with legal requirements (ESIGN and applicable state law) and internal retention policies.

Common Preparation Challenges to Watch For

  • Incomplete source documentation or missing reconciliations that require late adjustments and slow review cycles.
  • Name mismatches between legal entity names and tax filings that trigger withholding or verification delays.
  • Unclear signatory authority or absence of a corporate resolution authorizing the report attestation.
  • Poorly configured digital workflows that allow unsigned required fields or create parallel versions without a single authoritative copy.

Key Risks and Consequences of Incorrect Reporting

Tax Penalties: IRC §6721 penalties apply for incorrect information returns
I‑9 Violations: 8 CFR §274a.2 paperwork fines possible
HIPAA Exposure: 45 CFR §164.530(j) retention and privacy risks

1099/Information Returns:

Internal Review Clock:

Allow at least 5–10 business days for review cycles and remediation.

External Reporting:

Match lender or regulator submission dates specified in covenants or guidance.
