What the Business FAB Template Is and When It’s Used

The Business FAB Template is a standardized business document used to record Features, Advantages, and Benefits (FAB) of a product, service, or internal proposal for evaluation, approval, and recordkeeping. It combines an executive summary with financial assumptions, performance metrics, approval fields, and signature blocks so stakeholders can review tradeoffs and authorize spending or rollout. Organizations use it to align technical requirements with commercial outcomes, document decision rationale, and create an auditable record for procurement and compliance purposes across departments and suppliers.

Why a Structured Business FAB Template Helps Decision-Making

A clear FAB Template organizes product attributes, measurable business benefits, and cost assumptions so reviewers compare options consistently and document approval decisions. It reduces ambiguity in scope, clarifies responsibility, and creates a single version of record for audits and post-implementation reviews.

Who Typically Prepares and Reviews a Business FAB Template

  • Product managers and PMOs — prepare feature lists, success metrics, and implementation timelines for stakeholder review.
  • Finance and procurement teams — validate cost assumptions, ROI inputs, and budget alignment prior to sign-off.
  • Legal and compliance reviewers — confirm contract language, data protection, and any regulatory constraints for the proposed solution.
