What the Business Good Standing Form Is and when it’s used

A Business Good Standing Form is an official attestation, usually issued by a state business registry or Secretary of State, confirming that a registered entity meets statutory filing and tax obligations and is authorized to transact business in that jurisdiction. Third parties commonly request it to verify corporate compliance for banking, contracting, licensing, or mergers and acquisitions. The document typically shows entity name, formation state, filing or charter number, issue date, and an issuing authority’s seal or signature; formats include printed certificates and digitally issued PDF certificates.

Why this form matters for transactions and compliance

The Business Good Standing Form provides third-party assurance that an entity is current with state filings and franchise taxes, reducing onboarding friction with banks, customers, and contracting authorities while supporting regulatory and due-diligence checks.
