What the Business Selection Final Selection document is

The Business Selection Final Selection is a formal procurement record that identifies the vendor or business chosen to receive an award after a competitive selection process. It summarizes evaluation scores, selection rationale, required contractual terms, and administrative details needed to execute a contract. The document is used by contracting officers, procurement teams, and internal stakeholders to notify winners, document compliance with solicitation criteria, and trigger post-award actions such as contract drafting, vendor onboarding, and public posting where required by procurement rules.

Why a clear final-selection record matters

A concise, well-documented final selection reduces dispute risk, creates an auditable trail of the decision, and speeds contract execution by providing necessary details to legal and finance teams. It also supports transparency for oversight and audit.

Why a clear final-selection record matters

Primary users and recipients

The Business Selection Final Selection is prepared by procurement staff and reviewed by legal, finance, and program managers before issuance.

  • Contracting officers and procurement teams who assemble selection results and approvals.
  • Legal and finance reviewers who confirm terms, budgetary approval, and compliance.
  • Selected vendors and required public disclosure channels per solicitation rules.

Recipients typically include the selected vendor, unsuccessful bidders (as required), and any public procurement portal or oversight office.

Who signs and authorizes the document

Authorizing Official

A contracting officer or authorized procurement official signs to confirm compliance with procurement rules and final award authority. Their signature attests to the selection process, scoring, and adherence to solicitation terms.

Vendor Representative

An authorized representative of the selected business signs acceptance and any required contract documents. Signatory authority should match the vendor's corporate governance (e.g., officer or designated signatory).

Common preparation mistakes to avoid

  • Failing to follow solicitation-specific posting or notification requirements, leading to procedural challenges or formal disputes.
