What the Business Services Altima is and when it applies

The Business Services Altima is a standardized service agreement template used by companies to define scope, deliverables, payment terms, and responsibilities for business-to-business services. It frames roles for provider and client, clarifies timelines and acceptance criteria, and includes administrative sections such as invoicing, confidentiality, and dispute resolution. Organizations use it to reduce negotiation time, ensure consistent contract language across projects, and create a record suitable for electronic execution and retention. This template is designed for general commercial services and should be adapted for regulated industries with legal review.

When combined with verified eSignature and retention practices, it helps demonstrate consent, attribution, and record reproducibility required by U.S. e-signature law.

Practical tips for accurate and efficient completion

Apply consistent internal controls and clear templates to reduce review cycles and improve record reliability for audits or disputes.

Prepare complete exhibits
Attach all statements of work, pricing schedules, and technical specifications before sending the agreement for signature so signers have all referenced materials available and cannot claim missing information later during acceptance or performance.
Verify signatory authority
Confirm that the person signing on behalf of a business is an authorized officer or has a corporate resolution when necessary; incorrect authority can result in unenforceable agreements and delayed payments.
Choose appropriate authentication
Select an authentication level proportional to contract risk—email/SMS for low-risk transactions, stronger methods or identity proofing for high-value or regulated engagements to strengthen attribution.
Retain audit records
Store signed PDFs with embedded audit trails, access logs, and exported metadata in a secure DMS to meet retention requirements and support reproducibility in legal or tax audits.
