What the Business Services SMS RML Document Is

The Business Services SMS RML Document is a standardized commercial form used to record the scope, responsibilities, and risk allocation for business services that include SMS or messaging components. It typically captures service descriptions, deliverables, timelines, pricing or rates, change control, and limited liability or indemnity language. Organizations use it to establish mutual expectations between service providers and clients, to document consent for message delivery where required, and to create a clear record that can be retained for compliance and audit purposes across internal and external workflows.

Why this document matters for contracts and compliance

A clear SMS RML Document reduces ambiguity about message-driven services, aligns commercial terms, and provides an auditable record of consent, scope, and liability. It also supports regulatory compliance where communications, data handling, or record retention obligations apply.
