What the Business Start Pack Includes

The Business Start Pack is a consolidated collection of formation documents, templates, and procedural guidance intended to help U.S. entrepreneurs complete company formation, tax registration, banking, and initial compliance tasks. Typical items include articles of organization or incorporation, an operating agreement or bylaws, an EIN application checklist, initial corporate resolutions, ownership and signatory records, and a permits and licenses checklist. The pack is organized to reduce errors, centralize required data, and produce a consistent record set suitable for filing with state agencies, opening bank accounts, and meeting early regulatory obligations.

Why a Start Pack Matters for New Businesses

A Business Start Pack reduces errors, standardizes essential information, and documents organizational authority. It saves time when filing with state offices, applying for an EIN, opening bank accounts, and preparing required tax forms while improving audit readiness.

Why a Start Pack Matters for New Businesses

Who Typically Assembles and Uses This Pack

Founders, small-business owners, and professional advisors typically assemble a Business Start Pack before filing formation documents or opening bank accounts.

  • Founders who must provide owner names, percent ownership, and signature authority to filing offices and banks.
  • Accountants who need EIN, tax classification, and accurate address information for payroll and information returns.
  • Attorneys and registered agents responsible for drafting operating agreements and ensuring formal organizational actions are recorded.

The pack centralizes information so each stakeholder can complete their tasks with fewer follow-ups and clearer records.

  • Overlooking registered agent requirements or entering a P.O. box where a physical address is required, which can invalidate service of process.
  • Not preserving signed originals or certified copies when a state or bank specifically requests notarized or certified records, causing re-submission.

How Organizations Used a Pack in Practice

Two real-world examples show how standardizing formation and signature workflows reduces friction for founders and customers alike.

Optica Ventures (COO)

Optica Ventures needed a consistent process to onboard portfolio companies and centralize formation and signature workflows across multiple projects.

  • They required mobile-friendly execution for remote founders.
  • Brian Fitzgibbons, COO, observed that the interface is simple and easy-to-use for their team and customers, which reduced turnaround time and administrative follow-ups while improving record consistency.

Martin Properties (Founder)

A small real estate firm needed to execute leases, vendor agreements, and formation documents while visiting sites.

  • They required offline mobile signing capability.
  • Tim Martin, Founder, reports processing and executing documents online with compliance and built-in security, enabling efficient remote signings and faster deal closings without in-person meetings.

Who Can Sign and Authorize Pack Documents

Owner / Founder

An owner or founder with delegated authority signs formation, operating agreement, and banking documents. Their signature establishes control, authorizes bank accounts, and evidences ownership for tax reporting and compliance.

Registered Agent / Corporate Secretary

A registered agent or corporate secretary may sign or certify copies for filing or banking purposes where permitted; they maintain service records and can attest to meeting minutes and resolutions.
