What a Business Tablet Agreement Covers

A Business Tablet Agreement documents the terms for providing, using, and maintaining tablets or similar mobile devices issued by a company for business purposes. It typically addresses device ownership, permitted uses, security and data handling, software and updates, loss or damage liability, return and replacement procedures, and any reimbursement or termination obligations. The agreement defines responsibilities for both employer and employee (or contractor), and may include notification, inspection, and remote-wipe rights to protect corporate data.

Why this Agreement Matters for Risk and Operations

A clear Business Tablet Agreement reduces security and compliance risk, clarifies ownership and repair responsibilities, and preserves company data integrity while setting expectations for acceptable use and returns.

Core Clauses to Include in Every Business Tablet Agreement

Security Controls

Maintenance & Repairs

Specify responsibility for routine maintenance, covered repairs, out-of-pocket costs, and timelines for reporting defects or damage.

Liability

Allocate liability for loss, theft, or damage, including deductible or replacement cost calculations and insurance expectations.

Return Conditions
