Common mistakes when preparing Chapter 7 slides

  • Using outdated statutory citations or failing to verify code sections against the current California statutes can mislead learners and create compliance gaps.
  • Overloading slides with dense verbatim statute text rather than concise summaries reduces learner retention and increases cognitive load during instruction.
  • Failing to label question difficulty or objective tags prevents targeted review and inhibits efficient study planning for candidates.
  • Not preserving a master file with version history makes it hard to reconcile changes after distribution or to demonstrate what was provided on a given date.

Risks and consequences of incorrect or outdated slide content

Misinformation Risk: Learner errors and exam failures.
Professional Liability: Instructor or broker reputational harm.
Regulatory Noncompliance: Failure to cite current law can mislead practice.
Contractual Risk: Incorrect sample forms may produce invalid guidance.
Accessibility Risk: Poorly formatted slides can violate accessibility expectations.
Recordkeeping Gaps: Loss of version history hinders audits.
