What the Carrier Agreement Revised Is and when it applies

The Carrier Agreement Revised is a written contract between a carrier and a contracting party (shipper, broker, or consignee) that sets rates, service obligations, liability limits, insurance requirements, indemnities, routing rules, and performance metrics. It documents responsibilities for loading, transport, unloading, claims handling, and regulatory compliance, and it replaces or modifies prior carrier terms. Parties usually use the revised agreement to reflect updated pricing, new insurance thresholds, or changes following law or operational shifts. Signed and dated authorizations make the revised edition binding under applicable electronic signature rules.

Why a Revised Carrier Agreement matters for operations and risk

A revised carrier agreement clarifies current pricing, liability allocation, insurance minimums, and operational expectations so both parties minimize disputes and ensure regulatory compliance. It also updates indemnity language and service-level provisions to reflect changes in law, business practice, or insurance markets.

Practical tips for accurate and efficient completion of the Carrier Agreement Revised

Applying consistent practices reduces friction between contracting parties and helps preserve insurance and enforcement rights.

Use a standard template for revisions
Maintain a controlled template with numbered clauses and an editable revision history so changes are auditable; keep a version log to show why and when terms evolved.
Require named signatories and titles
Record the full printed name, job title, and an authorized signature line for each party; confirm corporate authority via board resolution or power-of-attorney when needed.
Attach insurance certificates
Require current ACORD-style certificates and specify minimum validity periods; set an automated reminder to re-request certificates before expiration.
Keep change history with dates
Add a revision clause that lists amendment dates and a short summary to avoid confusion over which version governs performance.
