What the Charitable Donation Activities Form Is and when it's used

The Charitable Donation Activities Form documents gifts, pledged support, and volunteer-related activities tied to a nonprofit event or campaign. It records donor identity, donation type, fair market value, purpose of funds, and any donor restrictions so organizations can issue accurate acknowledgments and track program-level activity. For contributions of $250 or more, charities must provide a written acknowledgement to support a taxpayer deduction (IRC §170(f)(8)). The form also supports internal controls, audit trails, and retention for tax and regulatory compliance.

Why a standard form matters for donor stewardship and compliance

A consistent Charitable Donation Activities Form improves record accuracy, simplifies donor acknowledgements required under IRC §170(f)(8), and helps nonprofits reconcile fundraising with program delivery and audits.
