What a Client Account Package Is and when it’s used

A Client Account Package is a standardized collection of forms and disclosures used to open and manage a client account, document authorization, and record ongoing client instructions. Typical contents include client identification, account type and number, payment and fee schedules, authorization and signature blocks, compliance disclosures, and a list of required supporting documents. The package serves transactional, regulatory, and recordkeeping purposes across industries such as financial services, legal, real estate, and healthcare, and it can be executed on paper or submitted electronically under U.S. e-signature laws.

Why a well-prepared Client Account Package matters

A complete package reduces onboarding delays, supports regulatory compliance, and preserves evidence of consent, authorization, and disclosures for audits or disputes.

Why a well-prepared Client Account Package matters

Who typically completes and relies on the Client Account Package

Properly completed packages reduce downstream disputes, speed account activation, and establish clear responsibilities between parties.

  • Financial institutions and advisors who collect KYC, tax IDs, and account authorizations for regulations and reporting.
  • Legal and professional services firms that need engagement terms, fee schedules, and signing authority documented.
  • Real estate brokers and property managers for tenant or escrow account setup and trust accounting.

Core components included in a professional Client Account Package

A complete package organizes client identity, account terms, authorizations, fees, required attachments, and signature evidence so reviewers and auditors can locate essential information quickly.

Client Identity

Full legal name, date of birth or formation date, and government ID or EIN to verify identity and support Know Your Customer checks.

Account Details

Account type, account number or placeholder, purpose of the account, and any linked accounts or custodial instructions.

Authorization

Explicit authority statements (who may transact, limits, delegated signers) and scope of permitted actions for the account.

Fee Schedule

Clear statement of fees, billing frequency, payment methods, and any penalties for late payments or returned items.

Compliance Disclosures

Required consumer or regulatory disclosures, including privacy notices, consent to electronic records when applicable, and tax reporting statements.

Signature Evidence

Signature block, dates, witness or notary fields if required, and an audit trail or certificate of completion for electronic execution.

Step-by-step completion checklist

Follow a clear sequence to collect accurate data, verify identity, attach required documents, and obtain valid signatures or notarization.

Attach documents: Include ID copies, W‑9s, and corporate formation records if applicable.
  • 03
Set account terms: Document fees, authorization limits, and governing law.
  • 04

Recommended electronic workflow settings

Configure a consistent eSubmission workflow to enforce identity checks, routing order, required fields, and retention rules.

Field | Configuration Purpose | Value
Authentication Email + SMS code or KBA for higher-risk accounts

Real-world examples of streamlined client onboarding

Short case summaries show how organizations improve turnaround and reduce friction with standardized packages and electronic execution.

Optica Ventures LLC — Brian Fitzgibbons, COO

Optica adopted an electronic intake process to simplify signatures and document delivery.

  • The interface removed manual handoffs and client confusion.
  • The interface is simple and easy-to-use for our team; more importantly, it is just as easy for our customers.
