What the Client Project CPPI Form Is and when it's used

The Client Project CPPI Form is a standardized project intake and approval document used to capture client details, project scope, deliverables, schedule, budget, and required approvals. Organizations use it to create a single source of truth for new work, to route reviews through finance, legal, and project management, and to document authorization for commencement. The form is commonly fillable as a PDF or web form and is often completed and executed electronically to speed approvals and maintain an auditable record.

Why use a formal Client Project CPPI Form

A consistent CPPI Form reduces ambiguity about scope, cost, timeline, and responsibilities, shortens review cycles, and creates the record needed for invoicing and audits while supporting compliance and dispute avoidance.

Why use a formal Client Project CPPI Form

Who typically completes and reviews the CPPI Form

The CPPI Form is a cross-functional document used by client-facing teams, project leads, and internal reviewers before work begins.

  • Project managers and delivery leads who define scope, milestones, and resource needs.
  • Account managers or client success teams who provide client details and commercial context.
  • Finance and legal reviewers who validate budgets, payment terms, and contractual language.

Final distribution often includes the client, finance, and project archive for future reference and audit trails.

Core sections to include in a professional CPPI Form

A complete CPPI Form groups essential information into clear sections so reviewers can make fast, consistent decisions and the document can serve as an enforceable project record.

Project Identifier

Unique project code and internal reference to link the CPPI Form to PM tools and billing systems, ensuring traceability across systems and reports.

Client Information

Legal entity name, billing address, contact person, email, and phone number. Accurate legal names prevent TIN mismatches and invoicing errors.

Scope of Work

Concise description of deliverables, milestones, and acceptance criteria. Clearly define what is in scope and explicitly list exclusions to avoid scope creep.

Timeline & Milestones

Start and end dates, key milestone dates, and any dependencies. Tie milestones to invoice triggers or change-order processes when applicable.

Budget & Payment Terms

Line-item budget, currency, payment schedule, and late-payment terms. Specify whether amounts are estimates or fixed-price to set expectations.

Approvals & Signatures

Designated approvers, signature blocks with printed name and date, and a place for legal or procurement notes. Record who authorized work to begin.
