What a Coaching Coach Agreement Covers

A Coaching Coach Agreement is a written contract that defines the working relationship between a coach and the person or organization engaging coaching services. It typically identifies the parties, scope and frequency of sessions, fees and payment terms, confidentiality and data handling, deliverables or measurable outcomes, cancellation and rescheduling rules, termination rights, and dispute-resolution procedures. For many coaching engagements the agreement also documents intellectual property ownership and any non-solicitation or non-disclosure obligations. A clear, signed agreement reduces ambiguity and supports enforceability under applicable electronic signature laws.

Why a Written Coaching Agreement Matters

A written agreement clarifies expectations, protects both parties, and documents compensation and timing. It reduces the risk of misunderstandings and provides an auditable record suitable for e-signing and retention under applicable law.

Why a Written Coaching Agreement Matters

Who Typically Uses a Coaching Coach Agreement

Common users include independent coaches, coaching firms, HR departments, and organizational buyers who need formal terms before onboarding services.

  • Independent coaches establishing fee schedules and client rules for one-on-one or group coaching.
  • Coaching firms contracting with corporate HR for recurring leadership or performance programs.
  • Clients or organizations formalizing deliverables, timelines, and confidentiality for vendor relationships.

The agreement suits B2B and B2C engagements where clarified obligations, confidentiality, and payment terms are important.
