What the Cost Plus Pricing Form Is and When It’s Used

A Cost Plus Pricing Form documents reimbursable project costs plus an agreed fee or percentage for overhead and profit. It records itemized direct costs (labor, materials, subcontractor invoices) and applies an agreed markup, fee, or fixed percentage. Used in construction, professional services, and government contracting, the form creates a transparent basis for interim invoices and final settlement. When paired with change orders and supporting receipts, it helps auditors verify charges and supports payment disputes or contract closeout.

Why a Clear Cost Plus Form Matters

A standardized Cost Plus Pricing Form reduces billing disputes, improves auditability, and makes cost allocation transparent for both payer and payee.

  • Using inconsistent payer or project identifiers that prevent matching to the prime contract and accounting records.
