What this Creative Project Discovery and Design Template Is

The Creative Project Discovery and Design Template is a structured briefing and intake form used to document project goals, audience, scope, deliverables, timeline, budget, technical constraints, and approval workflows before design work begins. It standardizes information gathering across stakeholders, provides a single source of truth for requirements and assumptions, and creates an auditable trail of decisions that reduces scope creep. The template is suitable for agency-client engagements, internal product design sprints, and cross-functional marketing projects where clarity on acceptance criteria and signatory approval is required.

Why a Standardized Discovery Template Matters

[INTRO] A consistent discovery template reduces ambiguity, accelerates alignment between stakeholders, and limits rework by capturing scope, success metrics, and constraints up front.

Why a Standardized Discovery Template Matters

Typical Users and Signers for This Template

Teams complete the form at project kickoff to confirm responsibilities, timelines, and acceptance criteria before design execution.

  • Project Managers and Producers — centralize scope, schedule, and approvals; ensures handoffs are documented and responsibilities assigned.
  • Design Leads and Creative Directors — capture visual direction, brand constraints, and deliverable formats for execution clarity.
  • Client Stakeholders and Product Owners — confirm objectives, KPIs, and sign-off authority to prevent midstream scope changes.

The completed template becomes part of the project record and is routed to authorized signers for formal approval or acceptance.

How to Complete the Template, Step by Step

Follow this sequence to complete the Creative Project Discovery and Design Template and get approvals efficiently.

  • 01
Prepare: Gather background documents, brand assets, and any technical constraints before starting.
  • 02
Describe Scope: Summarize objectives, target audience, and deliverables in concise bullet form.

  • 04
Review & Sign: Route to authorized signers and capture dates and printed names for each approval.

How to Configure the Template for Online Use

Set up the digital workflow so fields, routing, and authentication match your approval policies and project scale.

Routing Order Set approver sequence: Project Lead → Legal (if needed) → Client Signer
Authentication Select email link or SMS code; use stronger methods for high-value approvals

Where to Send and How Submission Works

Document routing and submission can be automated so reviewers receive clear actions and an audit trail is created automatically.

  • Upload: Upload the completed template to your document platform or eSignature provider
  • Assign Fields: Place signature, name, date, and checkbox fields for each approver
  • Route: Send in the configured signer order or share a secure signing link
  • Archive: Store the signed copy and audit trail in your project repository

Technical Requirements for Digital Signing and Storage

Confirm platform support for common formats, integrations, and authentication methods before eSubmission.

  • File Formats: PDF and DOCX are standard and widely supported
