What the Discount Coupons Index Is and Why Organizations Use It

A Discount Coupons Index is a centralized record that catalogs issued promotional coupons, their codes, discount types, eligibility rules, expiration dates, distribution channels, and redemption history. Organizations use the index to standardize coupon data across marketing, sales, and point-of-sale systems, reduce duplicate or conflicting offers, and maintain an auditable trail for finance, tax, and compliance reviews. The index supports reporting on redemptions, outstanding liabilities for promotions, and reconciliations with accounting and inventory systems.

  • Publishing promotions to some channels but not syncing POS results in customer complaints and manual reversals.
