What an Educational REQ Transcript Is and When it’s Used

An Educational REQ Transcript is a formal request form used to obtain an official academic transcript from a school, college, or university. It documents the requester, the student whose record is sought, the recipient (employer, another institution, or student), delivery method, and any consent required under FERPA. Institutions use this form to verify identity, record processing authorizations, and track fees or hold statuses before releasing certified academic records for transfer, admission, employment verification, or legal purposes.

Why Accurate Transcript Requests Matter

Clear, complete Educational REQ Transcripts speed processing, help ensure records are released to authorized recipients under FERPA (20 U.S.C. §1232g), and reduce re-requests, delays, and privacy incidents.

Why Accurate Transcript Requests Matter

Who Creates and Receives These Transcript Requests

Multiple parties prepare, approve, or receive Educational REQ Transcripts depending on the use case and custody of academic records.

  • Students and alumni requesting official or unofficial transcripts for transfers, employment, certifications, or personal records.
  • Registrar or records offices that verify identity, check holds, apply fees, and release certified transcripts.
  • Employers, licensing boards, or other institutions requesting third-party verification for hiring, licensure, or admissions.

Identifying the correct requester role and recipient type up front reduces processing errors and ensures FERPA compliance.

Step-by-step: Completing an Educational REQ Transcript

Follow a clear sequence to complete the request accurately and avoid common processing delays.

  • 01
Prepare Request: Enter student name, DOB, student ID, and current contact information.
  • 02
Provide Consent: Sign FERPA release or authorization where third-party disclosure is requested.
  • 03
Choose Delivery: Select electronic, mail, courier, or in-person pickup and include recipient details.
  • 04
Pay Fees: Include payment method for standard, rush, or certified delivery if required.
