What the Finance Sales Incentive Addendum Is

A Finance Sales Incentive Addendum is a contract attachment that documents specific incentive terms tied to sales performance, payment mechanics, and recovery rights. It modifies or supplements a base agreement or employment/commission plan to define eligible transactions, calculation formulas, payment timing, dispute resolution, and clawback provisions. The addendum is used to ensure consistent administration of incentives across finance and sales teams, to record approvals, and to create an auditable trail for payroll, tax reporting, and internal controls.

Why a Clear Addendum Matters to Finance and Sales

A concise, well-structured addendum reduces ambiguity around payout triggers, aligns accounting with commission plan rules, and protects the company from overpayments and tax-reporting errors. It also documents sign-off and audit information needed for compliance.

  • Legal or HR for final review when the addendum affects employment terms, commissions, or post-termination payments.

Ensure each listed stakeholder receives the final signed copy and that the document is stored in the official records repository for audit and payroll reference.
