What the Fumigation Service Notice Is and when it’s used

A Fumigation Service Notice is a written communication that informs occupants, property managers, and relevant authorities that a building or portion of a property will be treated with fumigants or pesticide products. It identifies the treatment dates and times, the active chemical agents or product class, required occupant actions (vacate, remove food, pets), re-entry intervals, and emergency contact information. The notice documents safety precautions, legal disclosures, and instructions to reduce exposure and liability for both the applicator and the property owner.

Why issuing a clear notice matters

Clear, timely notices protect occupant health, reduce legal exposure, and create a documented record of disclosure for regulators, tenants, and insurers. They also help ensure compliance with local pesticide, workplace safety, and landlord–tenant obligations.

Why issuing a clear notice matters

Who typically prepares and receives a Fumigation Service Notice

The notice creates a formal trail for safety compliance and dispute resolution between applicators, property owners, and occupants.

  • Tenants and occupants who must vacate or take preparatory actions before treatment
  • Property managers or landlords responsible for post-treatment reentry and logging
  • Regulatory contacts (local pesticide control, health departments) when required

Essential elements to include on a professional notice

A professional Fumigation Service Notice is concise but complete; it explains the what, when, who, and how of the treatment so recipients can act safely and the sender can document compliance.
