What the Fundraising Fundraiser Agreement Is and When It Applies

A Fundraising Fundraiser Agreement is a written contract between an organizer (individual or agency) and a fundraiser or fundraising entity that sets roles, compensation, donor handling, and reporting responsibilities for a specific campaign or event. It documents the scope of solicitation activities, duration, whether donations are restricted or unrestricted, payment of fees or commissions, and obligations for receipts and tax reporting. Properly executed agreements protect donors, clarify liability, and support compliance with federal and state fundraising laws as well as recordkeeping and tax requirements.

Why a Written Fundraising Agreement Matters

A clear Fundraising Fundraiser Agreement reduces regulatory risk, documents donor and payment flows, and sets measurable responsibilities between parties. It supports audit readiness, protects charitable status, and helps avoid disputes over fees or use of funds.
