What a Golf Membership Subscription Agreement Covers

A Golf Membership Subscription Agreement is a written contract that defines the relationship between a golf club or course and an individual or entity subscribing to membership services. It sets membership tier, fees, billing cadence, access rights, guest privileges, suspension and termination rules, renewal terms, and dispute resolution. The agreement can be structured as a fixed-term subscription or recurring membership and often includes attachment schedules for course rules, payment authorizations, and optional services such as lessons or cart storage.

Why a Clear Subscription Agreement Matters

A precise agreement reduces disputes, anchors expectations about fees and access, and documents cancellation and renewal mechanics so both parties understand obligations and remedies.

Why a Clear Subscription Agreement Matters

Who Drafts and Who Signs These Agreements

Golf clubs, course operators, membership directors, and legal counsel commonly prepare membership subscription agreements before enrollment.

  • Prospective members: review terms, provide financial and identity details, and consent to recurring billing and club rules.
  • Club administrators: set tiers, rate schedules, guest privileges, and approval processes for corporate or sponsored memberships.
  • Finance or legal teams: verify billing authorization, tax handling, indemnity clauses, and local consumer compliance requirements.

Clear role separation—who prepares, who approves, and who executes—helps ensure enforceability and smoother onboarding.

Core Elements to Include in a Professional Agreement

Real-World Membership Scenarios

Two typical use-case scenarios show how agreements are structured for individual and corporate members.

Individual Member

A frequent weekend player seeks a weekday-plus-weekend tier with guest credits

  • Member selects tier and enrolls with card authorization
  • The agreement sets prorated first payment, a 30‑day cancellation notice, and club conduct rules to reduce disputes and clarify privileges.

Corporate Sponsorship

A company purchases multiple memberships for staff and guests

  • Corporate billing and authorized signers are recorded
  • The contract includes payment terms, delegated signatory authority, and a clause assigning liability for guest conduct and unpaid fees.

Who Signs and Who May Represent a Corporate Member

Club Manager

The club manager or membership director typically executes on behalf of the club and is responsible for enrollment, billing setup, and operational enforcement of membership rules. They coordinate with finance and legal when terms are nonstandard.

Member

An individual member signs to accept personal obligations. For corporate accounts, an authorized officer or delegate with written authorization should sign; keep documented evidence of delegation to avoid enforcement issues.
