What the Healthcare PTA Full Time Agreement Covers

The Healthcare PTA Full Time Agreement is an employment contract template for hiring a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) into a full-time role within a healthcare setting. It defines duties, schedule, compensation, benefits, work location, confidentiality and patient-privacy obligations, and grounds for termination. The document also typically includes provisions for licensure and credential maintenance, compliance with facility policies, and a governing law clause. Use this agreement to create a clear, consistent employment relationship that aligns with state labor law and applicable healthcare privacy rules.

Why a Clear Full-Time PTA Agreement Matters

A written full-time PTA agreement reduces ambiguity about pay, hours, duties, and professional responsibilities, supports compliance with HIPAA and wage-and-hour laws, and provides a documented basis for resolving disputes or performance issues. It helps employers protect patient privacy and confirm required credentials.

Why a Clear Full-Time PTA Agreement Matters

Who Typically Prepares and Signs This Agreement

Employers and HR teams draft and issue the agreement; PT clinic managers, human resources, and hiring supervisors usually complete the form.

  • Hiring Manager or Clinic Director — prepares role-specific duties, shift patterns, and performance expectations for the PTA.
  • Human Resources — inserts compensation, benefits, PTO accrual, compliance language, and executes onboarding steps.
  • PTA Candidate — reviews terms, confirms licensure and availability, and signs to accept employment.

The signed agreement becomes part of the employee record and should be retained according to healthcare and employment record retention rules.

Typical Signatories and Their Roles

Employer Representative

Clinic owner, practice administrator, or HR officer who has authority to bind the employer and confirm compensation and staffing terms. This signer confirms facility policies, HIPAA training requirements, and any non-compete or confidentiality clauses.

Physical Therapist Assistant

The PTA accepts the position, affirms required credentials and license numbers, and agrees to patient-care duties and facility policies. Their signature indicates consent to employment terms and any post-termination obligations such as returning confidential materials.

  • Neglecting to include HIPAA obligations and training timelines, exposing the facility to compliance risk.

HIPAA Violation: Possible civil penalties and corrective action for privacy breaches
Wage Claims: Back pay and penalties for improper overtime or misclassification
Licensure Sanctions: Disciplinary action if an unlicensed person provides care
