What the Healthcare Radon Contract Covers

A Healthcare Radon Contract is a written agreement between a healthcare facility (hospital, clinic, long‑term care, or laboratory) and a certified radon testing or mitigation provider. It defines scope of testing, measurement protocols, mitigation actions if results exceed action levels, access and safety procedures for occupied clinical areas, reporting and recordkeeping obligations, payment and warranty terms, and any patient privacy protections for health‑related locations. The contract is commonly used to coordinate work with infection control, facilities management, and environmental health and safety teams in U.S. healthcare settings.

Why a Formal Contract Matters for Healthcare Sites

A clear contract assigns responsibilities, documents testing methodology and thresholds, and reduces liability by setting expectations for mitigation, timing, and reporting. It also supports compliance with workplace safety rules and preserves evidence of remediation activities for accreditation and insurer reviews.

Why a Formal Contract Matters for Healthcare Sites

Who Typically Prepares and Signs This Contract

Healthcare Radon Contracts involve multiple roles across facilities and external vendors; identify the responsible parties before work begins.

  • Facility EHS and Facilities Managers — coordinate access, infection control, and acceptance criteria for testing and mitigation.
  • Radon Testing & Mitigation Contractors — supply certified protocols, equipment calibration details, and mitigation timelines.
  • Healthcare Legal and Procurement — review indemnity, insurance, payment terms, and HIPAA/PHI handling provisions where relevant.

Clear signatory roles speed approval, reduce rework, and ensure the contract is enforceable and auditable after completion.

Primary Signers and Their Roles

Facilities Director

Usually signs on behalf of the healthcare provider with authority over building operations and maintenance contracts; responsible for granting access and confirming acceptance criteria after mitigation.

Radon Contractor Project Lead

Signs on behalf of the service provider, certifies testing methods and results, commits to mitigation schedules and warranty obligations, and documents technician qualifications.

Key Compliance and Security Considerations

Data Encryption: TLS 1.2/1.3 in transit; AES‑256 at rest
HIPAA Support: BAA available when PHI is involved
Audit Trail: Tamper‑evident logs and timestamps
21 CFR Part 11: Compliant controls for FDA records
SOC 2 / ISO: SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified
Accessibility: WCAG 2.0 Level AA compliant
