What the Insurance AOR and BOR Form Is and when it’s used

The Insurance AOR and BOR Form documents a change in insurance representation by naming a new Agent of Record (AOR) or Broker of Record (BOR) for a policy or portfolio. It authorizes the insurer to release policy information to the newly designated agent or broker and begins the administrative transfer of servicing responsibilities. In commercial and employee-benefit contexts the form commonly accompanies client authorization letters, contract references, and coverage summaries. Proper execution supports premium accounting, renewal handling, and claims coordination without altering policy terms or coverage limits.

Why accurate AOR/BOR forms matter for insurers and policyholders

A correct Insurance AOR and BOR Form creates an audit-ready record of who may interact with the insurer on behalf of the insured, reducing disputes over communications and ensuring continuity at renewal or claim time. It also documents the insured’s consent to transfer service rights and enables insurers to comply with data access and privacy obligations under state and federal laws.
